at the end of this week, 23 of you will make this squad... - Mood:Good

training's going great. our goalkeeper from last season who was pretty much average has improved quite a bit. plus this new el salvadorian kid, i'm thinking of trying him out at right winger instead of center forward. he can run a lot faster than a forward really needs to. we've got 37 people and we're trying to scale it back to 23 by the end of this week for a game next saturday.

my fiancee starts teaching sixth grade next week. second and third grade were completely different battles than sixth, i think. that's when you're trying to come into your own, at least that's how i remembered sixth grade. that and putting up with my sister's entitled attitude that kind of made the formative years a bit of a bummer.

i'm liking the effort the team is putting forth. there's a real competitive attitude and if that carries on into the season, we'll have a great one.

well, that`s it for eating whatever you want. - Mood:Good

i can start again if i'm not coaching girls' soccer (i probably am though, but they're still not sure about that) in january, or if i am, in may. back to laboring away and cooking my own food or eating more healthy than i should be. i managed a net gain of 2 pounds despite splurging on chocolates, fast food and excessive consumption of oriental food.

tryouts are monday. i'm kind of excited to have the same team as last year (no one graduated) plus a few newcomers. as i've mentioned, there's a couple of latino kids who can play, but where they'll be playing is another story. there's hot competition for the goalkeeper position considering the people who played there last year were mediocre.

my parents dropped by and had dinner with me tonight, which was a pleasant surprise considering they're really busy nowadays. my dad kind of mentioned how i needed to eat more, but i'm in (cont.)

seriously. see way too many of these things being thrown around.

olympics, yeah, i'm just watching it for the soccer, maybe some other events if i catch them. i know it's probably the weirdest place to watch it as they mostly field U21 or U23 squads for the occasion.

tryouts are in a week. some parents get quite pushy about wanting their kids to play a sport, but the only person that can make you play it is yourself. i've been going through what i have to work with this season and it's better than i had expected. no one on my team graduated last year, so i basically get last year's team and then some.

one of my assistants told me that this striker whose parents are from el salvador is really good. we'll see what happens when tryouts commence.

as for cooking, i've decided to get better at making pastries. i can cook all the boring food but pastries takes a bit of work.

the math pi has apparently an infinite number of numbers past the decimal point. i was told i only needed to know up to four digits, but some people know way too many digits of pi.

now to pie. i've never been good at baking, so i made apple pie. i think i succeeded for the most part, and my dad said although it tasted good, my presentation could have been better. he knows his pastries considering that's what he made when he first started off his culinary hobby since his parents told him that a woman would not date a man who couldn't cook.

i kind of just read the drama i missed because of pie and video games, and it seems that there's something here that just evokes something crazy. also, buddy could use an assistant so nude pics don't fall through the cracks. or you can just not post nude pics here.

my fiancee gets back on thursday. dunno what to do til then. might as well hang.

like i said in my last journal, my fiancee left to see some relatives of hers in the midwest. i don't feel like cooking, so my fatass alter ego took over and bought taco bell. i've been stepping on the scale and i gained a grand total of 4 pounds while not in training, despite my poor to average eating habits. i guess it's jogging that keeps the fat away.

she left behind her know-it-all 14 year old cousin though, and she asked me to at least hang out with him when he's bored. i love my fiancee and her family. her mom tells stories all the time, and they're interesting ones. why couldn't she drag the kid along with her? oh well, at least it's only for a week, and he seems to be the only dull knife in the drawer.

i'm gonna invite my friends over for drinks and poker, including my cop friend, since he's off duty that night. he never really comes to social events because of his job.

alright, not really, but my fiancee is going on a trip to visit some relatives of hers in places like wisconsin and minnesota. i've decided to take over the apartment and turn it into my own plaything for a week or so while she's gone, which means inviting my friends over for some FIFA, drinking and other random BS. so things like pants and cleanliness will now become optional, at least until the day before she comes back.

i need to go shooting. i haven't done that since before i moved. i might invite my parents again, just to see my mom embarrass my dad at it. my brother-in-law has been giving my dad tips now, so maybe he's gotten better. hopefully.

getting fast food. i'm eating all the things i shouldn't be eating. i'm allowed a few poor life choices, right? hopefully i don't exceed that quota. some people have, though.

i`m about to be an uncle again. - Mood:Good
Tuesday July 17 20121:36:46 AM |
well, my sister's pregnant, so i'm going to be an uncle for only the second time in my life. the first time was 3 years ago. she's due next february, around valentine's day or so. we won't know if it's a boy or a girl for a while, though.

i've been jumping cuisines lately. for three weeks, it was chinese, for the past week and a half, japanese. i've always liked sushi, but i've also grown to like tempura, squid, and tonkatsu.

speaking of food, i'm still learning to cook arabic food. i'll make my first run tomorrow with some baba ganoush. i've had it before here, but my dad told me that a restaurant he went to in syria had some of the best baba ganoush in the world, but knowing what's going on there, i'll probably never get to go.

i've been playing video games, so i've been mostly skipping over the YT drama of the past few days, but i'll get around to reading it. so hi people.

lives with his parents at age 24, they said. - Mood:Good

moved out on july 1, they never said.

anyways, that's what one of my g/f's friends said to me. i put it in the form of a meme because...well, my friends bombard my fb with it all the time. some are amusing to read, others, not so much.

my brother is going to quit slaving away at BoA, thank God. he deserves better. he has 5 interviews next week, and all 5 pay pretty good money, so hopefully he lands a job.

i've been on a chinese food kick for about two weeks now...i don't know why. i guess i've been slacking off since training isn't in session. i haven't gained any weight, but i haven't lost any i'm finding new places to eat, which is always good.

i borrowed my dad's personal cookbook, which is as thick as the dictionary. i'm reading the arabic food section. some of those things look really good to eat. i've tried some arabic cuisine but never actually cooked it, so it's

stopping in. - Mood:Good
Sunday July 08 20123:15:35 AM |
a few things have happened:

1. i'm now engaged to be married. not sure when the wedding will be though.
2. put off "X" trip indefinitely. i want to save some money.
3. i'm living with my girlfriend as a result of 1.

having friends over and playing games is a bit more difficult as a result since the walls are thin and poo. my brother is going to move out by september, so my parents will finally have an empty nest. i feel kind of bad leaving them by themselves, but i visit every weekend.

cooked again for the fiancee's parents, i'm getting better. mixed it up with some mexican cuisine, and i'm only good at that because i eat at this taqueria too often. carne asada, tortillas, and nachos, not really that exciting but i tried.
