Lie detector So it's only about 90% accurate and not admissible in court, but the polygraph is still a helpful tool to lead detectives in the right direction. Whether it breathes new life into a cold case, or simply helps investigators rule out yet another suspect it's certainly an important tool of the trade.

I'm fingerprint powder. I'm messy but I get the job done. I know if someone has been snooping around or something like that.

Blowfly Typically one of the first to notice when someone dies, the blowfly will usually get there within 15 minutes or so. Their larvae grow at a very predictible rate thus helping greatly to establish time of death when other means have been exhausted.

Magnifying glass Sometimes the clues are just too small for us to see. Whether it's a hair, carpet fiber, tiny drop of blood or some other potentially valuable detail in a crime scene the magnifying glass is a simple, but helpful tool for picking them out.

Fingerprint powder Quite messy, but useful nonetheless. If someone's been snoopin' around, a bit of fingerprint powder's bound to detect it.
