Actually war brought us radar, computers and advances in treating catastrophic injuries.

War may solve the problem at times, but going straight to war like the USA does isn't necessary.

war is not about the reasons they say it is. it is about resources like oil, and national power. A person would have to be suicidal or too young to voluntarily want to go to it. They hide the ugly parts well enough and then once the military has you, and you see what it is, it is far too late to get out of it.

War is good for economic and scientific growth down avenues and roads which were not previously available or were glazed over in times of peace.

furthermore it also strengthens alliances, cultures and beliefs.
War can cause great amounts of good and without it we would undoubtedly not have the internet since the internet was originally designed for the military.

Actually, no. The ARPAnet connected a bunch of university computer science and math labs before the DoD got involved and converted it to the DARPAnet.

The idea that "we wouldn't have X without war" is only based on the idea that without war the money spent on military research would just sit around gathering dust.

The Wright Brothers 1st airplane wasn't designed for a military application. The greatest advancements in aircraft design were through military applications but it does not follow that without 2 world wars we would still be stuck in the string and canvas phare of air transportation.

That's a fair point, but the speed at which those developments happened is certainly due to the war(s) and the pressing need for aircraft to go faster and carry more weight to aid the war effort.
