No male characters at all? That's impossible. Same thing with no female characters at all.

The latter certainly isn't true; a lot of war films probably manage it easily. 'The Thing' does too, off the top of my head.

The Thing does pass the opposite of the Shak test (and that is one of my favorite horror films).
I'm going to take a look at my top 15 highest rated films on imdb and see if any of them pass this test or the opposite of it:
1. Nope
2. Nope
3. Nope
_. Nope
5. Nope
6. Nope
7. Nope
8. Nope
9. Nope
10. Nope
11. Nope
12. Nope
13. Nope
14. Nope
15. Passes the opposite

Looking through my whole imdb ratings list, I'm finding quite a few that pass the opposite. Mostly war films but some are films taking place in locations like boy's schools. Some of the films don't take place in an isolated male-only situation BUT they only have women as extras or minimally clothed. They're definitely not the majority but I'm finding more of them than Shak test passing films (which do exist, as others have pointed out - but they're harder to find).

Reminds me of an old German movie called 'Mädchen in Uniform' (Girls in Uniform) that plays in a girls only boarding school. As far as I can recall that doesn't have men either (But there might be some male extras/really minor characters I forgot).

Oh, I've seen that one but it's been a while. I can't remember if there were dudes either.
I thought of some other girls only school movies but, in all the other ones I could remember off the top of my head, there were still non-sexualized speaking male characters.

There's a long list on films with no female characters. Stand by me, outpost, reservoir dogs, my dinner with andre, lord of the flies, master and commander, the great escape, lawrence of arabia, saving private ryan, etc, etc, etc...

At least some of those movies do have women in them, just very few or no talking ones.

Would you class a non talking extra as a character? Not sure I would.

master and commander is kinda hilarious because there's this one awkward scene where they dock and russell crowe makes eyes at a native girl and it's like the film is just trying to reassure the audience that he's not gay

Now, I'm trying to remember all my favorite movies and it's breaking my brain.
At the top of my head, nothing passes though.
