I assume we have common ancestors, not that I come from them.
15 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Saturday 11/4/06 - 10:10:00 PM EST (GMT-5)
In other words, do I believe in evolution as opposed to Creationism? Yes.
15 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Sunday 11/5/06 - 8:16:04 PM EST (GMT-5)
Yeah, that idea doesn't bother me a bit.
15 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Sunday 11/5/06 - 8:18:19 PM EST (GMT-5)
I reject THAT theory, because it's not what evolution is saying. I do wish folks would get it right before they reject it.
15 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Sunday 11/5/06 - 8:25:21 PM EST (GMT-5)
As pele said, we didn't descend from apes. We have an ancestor in common with them.

Well, I had to re-word it that way. The mod-bot wouldn't accept the question the other way.

If we have an ancestor in common, why did we "evolve" and the apes did not?

15 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Monday 11/6/06 - 8:58:39 PM EST (GMT-5)
^^Oh yeah, I totally forgot that was on the list of rejected questions. Clever re-wording there, then.
15 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Monday 11/6/06 - 8:59:01 PM EST (GMT-5)
Reject it completely and totally.
15 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Monday 11/6/06 - 9:08:40 PM EST (GMT-5)
I do understand that evolution does not say we descend from apes, but I don't agree with it. Also I'm surprised at how many people said they agree that they descend from apes.
15 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Monday 11/6/06 - 9:43:54 PM EST (GMT-5)
I reject that loosely thrown together theory on the fact that the person who created the theory laid out ground work on how evolution would be disproven; things like the fossil record, and irreducible complexity. This theory will be discarded by the scientific community as a whole in the next 25 years, just as it has been by a large portion of the scientific community already. True scientists admit that there is "absolutely, positively no evidence that supports macro-evolution." This is true by the way. There is no evidence that supports evolution in the least bit.

Looking at my relatives, I have to accept it! :)
15 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Tuesday 11/7/06 - 5:48:38 PM EST (GMT-5)

I don't accept it as the title says. HOWEVER, I do accept evolution, macro and micro, to be true.

The ancestor was neither human nor ape, it is what you said; a common ancestor. We share it, it is not one of either of us.

Though regardless, evolution is not a constantly occurring process. Natural selection would only occur if a trait offered a survival advantage which was required. If food an resources are plentiful and easy to get, it doesn't really matter whether you have a long neck or can run faster or etc etc, theres enough to go around.

If however food is limited, and you have something which will make you more able to get it than another individual, then you're more likely to survive and pass on that trait than he is. If there is a split, it is because a selective pressure occurs on one that does not occur on the other.

Incorrect, apes did evolve, just differently than us since their environment most likely called for different traits than our environment did. Its another misconception about evolution that apes are less evolved than humans

I reject it. I don't believe in the Theory of Evolution.

I believe the theory of evolution over creationism.

I reject as fact that we are descended from apes.

Apes and we decended from a common ancestor.

Apes did evolve. Some members of our common ancestor evolved into humans. Others evolved into humans.

14 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Wednesday 3/7/07 - 7:34:29 PM EST (GMT-5)
i don't believe that humans evolved from apes OR that humans and apes evolved from a common ancestor. one reason is because the "evidence" isn't really evidence. its just something that seems to explain things. i mean yeah the skull of an ape they found however many years ago may resemble the skull of a human but it doesn't NECESSARILY mean that we evolved from them OR that we have common ancestors. i'm a Christian and a creationalist and i know there is probably even less evidence of that but its just what i think is what happened. the end.
