"The rinse water is a great fertiliser for your garden, so grab a watering can and give back to Mother Earth!"

Even so, no thanks.

Honestly, they're cute, but I wouldn't use them. It'd be neat if the disposable pads looked as interesting. If there were nifty looking disposable pads, I'd use those.
15 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Friday 8/18/06 - 3:32:46 PM EST (GMT-5)
what do you think they used in the old days?
15 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Friday 8/18/06 - 3:43:12 PM EST (GMT-5)
^that this is not "the old days".

15 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Wednesday 8/30/06 - 3:17:48 PM EST (GMT-5)

"By not throwing away all those pads and tampons, you are honoring this fact."

Why would anyone collect their tampons?

Back to the question, I don't like using pads so no.

"Menstruation is a literal symbol of our power as women to be able to create life, and as such should not be treated as garbage."

How stupid, menstruation is just that, the body cleaning out the garbage accumulated over a month's time if a woman has not 'created life' within that time frame.

15 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Friday 9/1/06 - 4:00:55 PM EST (GMT-5)
I'd rather just rip my uterus and ovaries out and feed it to small orphans.
If you couldn't tell, I don't find my menstural cycle 'empowering' or 'sacred'. I find it to be a nusiance.
But I prefer tampons anyway. I hate pads because it's like wearing a freakin' diaper. I hate that.
15 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Monday 9/4/06 - 4:45:32 PM EST (GMT-5)
i'd try it. why not? i don't have that much of a problem with the blood, its the way it makes me feel that i hate most.
15 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Monday 9/4/06 - 4:48:35 PM EST (GMT-5)
I probably wouldn't (since I only have a period every three months and they're rather light), but I don't see why everyone is saying they're gross or disgusting. They aren't much different than cloth baby diapers. Much less wasteful. If I had normal periods I would give them a try.
15 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Monday 9/4/06 - 6:17:43 PM EST (GMT-5)
No never. I prefer the ones I use now.
15 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Thursday 9/7/06 - 8:17:19 PM EST (GMT-5)
gross i hate when my friends get bitchy durin their period
15 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Tuesday 9/26/06 - 9:23:44 AM EST (GMT-5)
I didnt use cloth diapers and i wouldnt use these either. Sometimes this whole recycling thing goes over the edge. When you are out in public do you keep the used one in your purse if you have to change it? GROSS!

Oh, I didn't read the story. My wife uses re-usable menstrual products, but not some brand-name, slogany kind. She even bought them used (but cleaned) off e-bay.

Please tell me that you're kidding about her buying used ones. That's like buying a used dildo or butt plug..

Eurgh, that is the most feral idea I've seen. I'd like to see the woman willing to wash out her pad.

I've been using cloth pads and washing them out for years.

Rather than buying premade menstrual pads, I use 'prefolded' diapers. They work quite well, and are much cheaper.

A cloth pad doesn't get 'full' as quickly as a disposable pad - except on my heaviest days, I don't have to change them while I'm out. And you can always use disposibles on heavy days when you're out, and cloth pads other times. It's not an either/or proposition.

They sell an internal 'cup' called the Keeper, which works much like a tampon. It collects the menstrual fluid rather than absorbing it, but it's the same general idea. I use that with a pad during my heavy days.

That sounds a lot like the DivaCup.
