DALLAS - Typing on a Das Keyboard is a lot like typing on any other computer keyboard — except the keys are blank. Most people, especially those who rely on the slow but steady hunt-and-peck technique, might consider that a problem.

Not Daniel Guermeur, chief executive of Austin-based Metadot Corp. The self-proclaimed 'uber geek' says he first came up with the idea for a blank keyboard while attending Stanford University in 1989. It was there that the French native noticed others typing much faster than he was.

Would you ever consider buying a blank keyboard?

That would be SO COOL, though I would rather have one of those indestructable keyboards, those things are AWESOME.
16 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Friday 8/12/05 - 3:18:14 AM EST (GMT-5)
It would result in serious headaches and me taking a hammer to it.
16 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Friday 8/12/05 - 3:25:10 AM EST (GMT-5)
No, I like the keyboard I already have.
16 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Friday 8/12/05 - 10:00:35 AM EST (GMT-5)
No, I prefer to see what I'm thwacking on my keyboard.
16 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Saturday 8/27/05 - 7:50:52 PM EST (GMT-5)
I suck at keybords.
16 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Saturday 8/27/05 - 7:53:55 PM EST (GMT-5)
No problem. I can touch type at 73 wpm and know my way around a keyboard blindfolded.
16 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Saturday 8/27/05 - 7:55:26 PM EST (GMT-5)
I'd be fine with that for letters and numbers, but some of the less used punctuation and other miscellaneous keys could cause a problem.

Yeah, I'm pretty good with the keyboard too... actually I never look at it =\... it reminds up my desk and I just put my hands into the little opening... *shrug* ... it would't make a difference to me.
16 yrs ago - Sunday 11/20/05 - 12:44:22 AM EST (GMT-5)
Yea. I can type an page on how to install a computer component blindfolded with 100% accuracy.
Although I'm really tired right now so my spelling is probably off.

No, I don't touch-type. Also, blank buttons and keys freak me out. They make me feel like I might be accidentally pushing the "self destruct" button.

Or you could just find an old keyboard and paint over the keys......................
15 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Saturday 4/1/06 - 2:14:58 PM EST (GMT-5)
I'd use one. I hate when I look at my hands while typing, it slows me down and that makes me mad. My bf would kill me if I replaced his keyboard, because he can't type at all.
15 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Saturday 4/1/06 - 2:17:40 PM EST (GMT-5)
Maybe.
15 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Sunday 5/14/06 - 12:33:27 AM EST (GMT-5)
I can usually type fairly well, but there are some days where I need to look at the keyboard because my brain isn't engaged enough to register where the keys are.
15 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Sunday 5/14/06 - 12:40:53 AM EST (GMT-5)
If it was cheap enough. I love a sale.
15 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Sunday 5/14/06 - 12:44:58 AM EST (GMT-5)
It wouldn't be a problem for me to type without the letters on it, but I doubt I would buy one. I would get too annoyed when people tried to use my computer and then bitch about the keyboard.
14 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Thursday 2/22/07 - 11:43:47 PM EST (GMT-5)
It would be a problem for me.
