Depends on the disease. I think it's perfectly acceptable to have children if your family has a history of heart disease or cancer. If I had the potential to pass on a disease that would cause suffering, like cystic fibrosis, for example, I would choose not to have children.

people are so self centered! why would you do that to an innocent baby. mental illness runs in my family and for that reason i will never have children. yes there is a one in a million chance they will be ok, but i know how i had to grow up with a depressed father and a bi polar mother. its no picnic. i couldn't do that.

Uhm, depends really. Something that will cause pain for the rest of their life, pft. Hell no. Something they can tolerate, yes.

Depends on what the disease is and what the risk of passing it on is. If the disease is too serious and /or the risk too high, I would adopt instead.

17 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Saturday 3/5/05 - 5:42:21 PM EST (GMT-5)
not if it was a severe disease but it would depend on what disease
17 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Saturday 3/5/05 - 5:44:23 PM EST (GMT-5)
I'd adopt.
But I don't want kids anyway.
17 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Wednesday 3/9/05 - 7:56:23 PM EST (GMT-5)
It really all depends on the tendency of recessive genes...I would if the father had normal genes because there would be less of a chance.

No, since I don't plan on having kids in the first place.
