should we allow all the violent kids to become ignorant AND violent ? or ship them all off to Australia ?

I don't think they would become violent unless they were sent to a place they really didn't want to be. Why do you think the only place they are violent at is school?

are you asking me "Why do you think the only place they are violent at is school?" I never said that.
19 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Thursday 4/18/02 - 12:17:47 AM EST (GMT-5)
Couldn't almost everyone be labeled as "potentially violent"? I know I could become violent if my family, friends, or myself was threatened.

Good to see that the spirit of Pink Floyd lives on. There are no kids that are only violent at school, kids that are violent at school, show an overall profile of unadapted behaviour.

Why send them to Australia?? We don't want your spoiled little brats.
18 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Monday 8/5/02 - 5:52:54 AM EST (GMT-5)
oops! sorry Beaker but they are already on their way. they should arrive on or before the 11th of the month. if you are not completely satisfied just box them back up and ship them back.
18 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Wednesday 8/7/02 - 5:31:12 PM EST (GMT-5)
OK...as long as it's a no questions asked guarantee. Can I keep yours and send mine over to you??
18 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Thursday 8/8/02 - 12:45:55 AM EST (GMT-5)
Back to the question...I have an 8yr old nephew who is feral...he was suspended from school last week for 3 days for pushing a kid down the stairs and then laying the boot in...he is suspended almost every week for similar things.. Now...Is he getting suspended because he is bad...or is he being bad, so he will get suspended?? I can't see how giving kids time off school is a punishment...this is what he wants...it would be better to make him attend a summer school, or detention after school, or lunch times...then he might learn to write his name....the government needs to be looking at solutions for these kids who are 'problem' children..otherwise they will have no hope at all for the future...

I was thinking the same thing as doli. Every kid has a right to education, and who exactly would draw the line deciding which kids are "potentially violent" and which are "normal"?
18 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Saturday 8/10/02 - 9:27:26 PM EST (GMT-5)
How about you let the kids who want to learn go to school, and the kids who would rather not don't have to. Then they won't be causing trouble in school.
18 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Saturday 8/10/02 - 9:30:50 PM EST (GMT-5)
And we would just have a whole world populated by illiterate good for nothings, and the global economy would fail, and violence would rule.. Yeah..great idea Rufio..
18 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Saturday 8/10/02 - 9:31:27 PM EST (GMT-5)
I doubt that will work, because there are few children younger then 16 who actually want to learn. I would say that %90 wouldn't go
18 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Saturday 8/10/02 - 9:38:29 PM EST (GMT-5)
I would have gone. Lots of people would have gone. No one really hates school when they're little kids, and they're pretty easy about everything. But by the time you get to high school, everyone usually knows whether or not they actually want to learn anything and can make the choice. They shouldn't be forced.
18 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Saturday 8/10/02 - 9:42:32 PM EST (GMT-5)
They should be forced... You might think at age 13 that you are all grown up and can make it in the world, but trust me...education is power...without it you have nothing...
18 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Saturday 8/10/02 - 9:45:53 PM EST (GMT-5)
Yeah, but it's a waste of time to send kids to school who aren't going to learn anyway. People should have the choice to screw themselves over.
18 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Saturday 8/10/02 - 9:57:33 PM EST (GMT-5)
However, we have the future of the world to think about...so for the good of the future, we need educated people.. Sure difficult kids need more attention, and they should be given it...but they should be encouraged to learn, not encouraged to drop out..
18 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Saturday 8/10/02 - 10:14:15 PM EST (GMT-5)
If we kill off the dumb people that sure does say a lot for the increase of the percentage of smart people in the population.
18 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Saturday 8/10/02 - 10:15:04 PM EST (GMT-5)
I agree sammy..that's the whole reason I don't believe in suspension...for most kids it's just an extra holiday and not an incentive to behave. Kids don't have the right to vote, drive a car or drink...they shouldn't have the right to screw up their lives when they don't have the life experience needed to make an informed decision.
18 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Saturday 8/10/02 - 10:31:16 PM EST (GMT-5)
I think they should have all those rights. Maybe if people actually excepted them to be responsible, they would be.
18 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Saturday 8/10/02 - 10:35:29 PM EST (GMT-5)
Bullsh*t...kids would just run wild...they need adults to guide them..
18 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Saturday 8/10/02 - 10:37:28 PM EST (GMT-5)
Kids were expected to be responsible 40 or 50 years ago. They were. What does that tell you?
18 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Saturday 8/10/02 - 10:39:08 PM EST (GMT-5)
Kids were seen and not heard 40 or 50 years ago..how were they responsible??
18 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Saturday 8/10/02 - 10:39:47 PM EST (GMT-5)
They also had caning in schools then...think that might have something to do with their good behaviour??
18 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Saturday 8/10/02 - 10:41:37 PM EST (GMT-5)
Kids are still seen and not heard. My point is, back then, violations on campus were of chewing gum in class and cutting in line. In HIGH SCHOOL. Now the minor ones are along the lines of getting pregnant and bringing loaded weapons to class. School should be a privelidge to those who take advantage of it, not a penitentiary.
