I would like to say no but I think family should mean something to someone of the family. That person wouldn't be here if it wasn't for his/her parents so I guess they should be greatfull.

The word family will always mean something different from person to person. For me, friends are better than most family.

I love all my family, but I don't necessarily like some of them

Never. Because we have the same blood pumping through our veins means sh*t to me. I neither like or love all of my family members. I only consider two people in the entire world my family. My brother and my mother.

We should love our families because they are beings worthy of and requiring our love.

Why not love everyone untill they give you reason not to?

No. Family doesn't mean anything in the long run. You can't choose your family. Families are made by blood, but friends are made by choice. And I'm closer to my friends than I could ever be with my family.

You *should* have love for them all, but sometimes there are bad seeds in families.

Nah. I'm not a fan of the thicker-than-water thing. My direct family's a bunch of idiots and/or b*stards, why should I love them? They've done all they could to make my life a greater misery than their own so that's a definite no.

I think that everyone does love their family, even if it's really, really deep down. (but I could be wrong...) I love my family, but I don't always *like* them.

Sometimes. There's sibling love, which I think is very important.

Yep. If there's more to them, you like them, as well.

There's a difference between loving and liking, and it's not merely one of degree in all cases. You should love your family just because they're family. They have to earn your "like."

I think it develops naturally. There are a few cases where you shouldn't love your family. Very few cases. They would have to be a special breed of awful.
There is very little that would make me stop loving my immediate family and even then I question if I would still love them. I think I might love them and hate them simultaneously.
