Load 'em up I say...
14 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Monday 6/18/07 - 11:33:08 PM EST (GMT-5)
Yes. It's bloody annoying when I want to buy a drink and I can't just because some of my change is in pennies.

I think so,the post office vending machines spit out those dollar coins, and no other vending machine will accept them
14 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Monday 6/18/07 - 11:43:48 PM EST (GMT-5)
It would cost too much to have workers empty them to make a profit. Even though interchange fees for credit/debit cards are outrageously high, I think a business would still make more money on a vending machine if they utilized the option of credit cards over pennies.

Yes taz, pennies need to go away via the way of everything being rounded up or down. Satisfied?

14 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Monday 6/18/07 - 11:57:11 PM EST (GMT-5)
I suppose, but a lot of people have no use for pennies, though.

Some vending machines and parking meters won't accept 50c or 5c coins and it annoys me. 1c coins are soooooo last century.

^In Gertude St the parking meter charges $1.80 and won't give change of a $2 coin!
14 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Thursday 6/21/07 - 3:31:36 AM EST (GMT-5)
Heheh. I always use vending machines to get rid of my pocket full of small change. Easiest way.
14 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Friday 6/22/07 - 6:32:10 PM EST (GMT-5)
Let the vending machines be
14 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Friday 6/22/07 - 8:26:13 PM EST (GMT-5)
Yes definitely.
14 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Saturday 6/23/07 - 3:59:36 AM EST (GMT-5)
Yes, I would think so, but then there would be a whole lot of change in the machine and it would fill up quickly
14 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Sunday 6/24/07 - 3:04:34 AM EST (GMT-5)
How about just getting rid of the penny? I mean, sure its somewhat useful but how about we just round to the nearest cent? it would be a lot more easier since we wouldnt have as many coins to worry about.
14 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Monday 7/9/07 - 12:34:13 AM EST (GMT-5)
They should accept $5 bills....
14 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Monday 7/9/07 - 7:10:56 AM EST (GMT-5)
Not really, if people want to lose business by not allowing people to spend their money if they don't have the correct change then it's their choice.
14 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Monday 7/9/07 - 7:15:00 AM EST (GMT-5)
pennies are legal tender but that doesn't mean that any retailer is obliged to take them. I would just leave the law alone in that respect rather than risk opening some pandoras box.
14 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Monday 7/9/07 - 8:26:44 AM EST (GMT-5)
Nah, it's up to them what they want to accept.
14 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Monday 7/9/07 - 6:10:48 PM EST (GMT-5)
They should accept dollar coins and 2 dollar bills, but then again both are relatively uncommon.
14 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Monday 7/9/07 - 9:27:59 PM EST (GMT-5)
I've never had a vending machine not accept my pennies.
14 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Saturday 9/29/07 - 4:05:38 AM EST (GMT-5)
At least accept my dimes.
14 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Saturday 9/29/07 - 4:15:52 AM EST (GMT-5)
How about this one:

"Should we do away with the penny"?

Oops, I've already answered this question.

14 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Saturday 9/29/07 - 6:31:29 PM EST (GMT-5)
YES. Like pennies.

It's hard to like pennies when I can't even use them in vending machines.

14 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Sunday 9/30/07 - 1:47:34 AM EST (GMT-5)
yes, because we get a ton of canadian coins circulating here
14 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Sunday 11/18/07 - 9:17:39 PM EST (GMT-5)
I think all vending machines should be free. As part of the constitution's freedom to pursue life, liberty, and happiness.
14 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Monday 11/19/07 - 6:43:32 AM EST (GMT-5)
Yes, they should.
14 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Monday 11/19/07 - 7:01:52 AM EST (GMT-5)
To anyone who said "yes", have you not thought of the fact that when you put coins into a vending machine, the coins fall into a box that has a limited size?

If people could get rid of all their small change in there, they'd be out of service most of the time!
