Ritualism: sexual acts are often done in the same fashion and sequence. Some say this is the definition of sex after years of marriage.

If fantasy is defined as having a creative imagination, then yes. If it's defined as having to imagine things in your head to get where you're going, no.

Not really. What about using sex as a way to connect on an emotional level (mostly for women) and a physical level (mostly for men) that stems from a mutual love for eachother? Or is that not scientifically cynical enough?

I think that fantasy, symbolism and compulsion are elements of sexual behavior.

Sexuality is a very complex subject, and you can't narrow it down like that. You can be attracted to totally different sorts of people, so you can be attracted to someone without them being a 'symbol'(aka, work into your fetish) You can be into all sorts of kinky stuff, always willing to try something new, so there goes ritualism. And I think that compulsion is simply being horny/in love/lust. And of course, fantasies are fun, and you can certainly attempt to play them out, but they're never quite as good as you imagined them to be. That being said, of course these are all parts of sex, but they don't rule over sexuality. There are a lot of people I'd like to f*ck, and really, none of these can explain why. That's just how it works.

I think sexuality is too complex to be broken down that way

I think all of those except ritualism play their part.
