`Topfreedom is a social movement which seeks to accord women the right to go topless in public should they so choose, where men have the equivalent right. Examples of public spaces which might be covered include beaches, swimming pools and parks. The reasons cited include keeping nursing mothers from having to find a hidden place for breastfeeding, allowing women to sun tan, comfort in places such as pools and beaches, and sex equality issues.
In North America, where resistance to topless nudity of women is greater than in mainland Europe or Australia, a small topfree equality movement has grown up. In February 2005 in California, attorney Liana Johnsson contended that under Megan`s Law, women convicted of indecent exposure (for breastfeeding or sunbathing) could find themselves listed as sex offenders alongside rapists and child molesters. The term `topfree` is used as an alternative to `topless`, which may carry negative connotations. Some women prefer the term `shirtfree rights`.`

Go to a nudist colony. You don't need any clothes. I think that would be the quick fix for this law.
No this should not happen because women's breasts are highly viewed as sexual organs by men and should not be just hanging out there for the world to see. If you think there are a lot of rapes now based on girls dressing "promiscuous trollopty", wait until women are running around topless. Plus, think of the CHILDREN!!!!
If women are breastfeeding, then yes, in public, whatever. As for just walking around with your tits hanging out, no. Even if you claim that breasts aren't sexual, in our culture, they are. Men, at least all the straight ones I've met, like boobies. And I prefer to have a little class.

So are men's chests. They may not be specifically designed to attract females, but that's pretty much what they're used for. And anyway, it's the nipples that people seem to find offensive, not the breast at large (so to speak). Consider the fact that if those are covered up, by a small bikini top, or even a hand or other obstruction, it's 'allowed'. And men have nipples as well, so why are they allowed? And if it *is* the case that it's the rest of the things that are 'indecent', then that doesn't work either - you can see the shape through clothing anyway, and certainly through the miniscule things which count as bikini tops. And anyway, even if it is sexual, so what? Why is nudity considered 'indecent'?
Personally I'm not bothered what people do, but I support the right for people to go topless if they choose to. Naked, even, if they really want
Just because something's sexual, doesn't mean it's bad or that it should be covered up.
Think about it: Breasts are covered up because it's socially unacceptable. And it's socially unacceptable because they're covered up. I don't want to see a fat man's moobs at the beach, but it's completely acceptable for him to be topless.
And it should be my choice whether I want to wear a top or not; it shouldn't be somebody elses - especially jsut because they don't "wish" to.
And that's not to say every women would suddenly be running around topless, say at the grocery store or something. I think outdoors at beaches and whatnot it should be okay.

Um, no, women don't get raped because they dress promiscuous trollopty. Women get raped because some demented bum opening wanted to feel powerful. But on the subject of public toplessness, I think everyone should be able to go for it.
It's people's bodies, they should get to choose what they wear, or lackthereof. Clothes originated as protection from the cold and whatnot, not to hide sexual organs. Breasts are, after all, just exaggerated versions of the same thing men have. Maybe we should only let flatchested women go topfree? I agree with the total nudity option. I doubt many people would choose it anyways. Also, women don't get raped because they dress promiscuous trollopty. Rape is an act of violence, not always on pretty ladies. And, may I remind you, children breastfeed on these same breasts. No harm there.
They shouldn't haver forbidden that in the first place, thats sexist. I do not suport feminst causes too often, but in this case, i think it's unfair they force women to cover their chest, like there's something bad about it and even claim those who don't cover their chest are "sexual offenders" That's just stupid.
i think its fair... its just the way that society is raised to think that its "wrong" but there should be a weight limit :p jk but seriously, its just 4 beaches and parks, not in grocery stores, or malls..... and i agree that it will not do anything to kids minds.... mostly because if they grow up with them in sight like that, it wont be that bad 4 them.... its just that we think that it is too much for their minds to hande.... i support topfreedom, just not anything under that, that may be odd for kids....so yah... thats my two cents.
While it should not be encouraged for woman to walk around topless (they'd get raped), there should be no law deciding it for them. People should be able to do what they like as long as it doesn't physically of financially hurt anyone else.
If others don't like it, they can turn their heads.
