One of the big three I guess depending on what the job is.
15 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Friday 12/22/06 - 7:22:37 PM EST (GMT-5)
It would depend on the types of skills the job required.

For something really important, I'd trust a standout from a Military Academy over a standout from one of the so called big 3 because personal character, honesty, integrity and duty are emphasised as strongly as good grades in a Military Academy.

It depends on the job. However, if the only information I had was what school they went to, I would choose the one from a military academy. Anybody with money and good high school grades can go to the Big Three, but it's much more challenging and meaningful to make it through a military academy.

with the military academy they would have more dicipline
15 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Sunday 12/24/06 - 1:55:32 PM EST (GMT-5)
The big three. I would want to hire someone who can think for themselves. Military academies discourage individual thought. In making decisions more then yes-men are needed.

Although I would have to be hiring for a very pretigious job if only graduates from top schools were acceptable.

^Where did you hear that, Grey? Military Academies are where they train the leaders, not the yes-men.

The whole military=mindless drone concept is just a fallacy. That is like saying Everyone who works at McDonalds is a Burger flipper. The R&D that brought you in the Internet, the most revolutionary tactics, the most ingenious, creative plans, these are not the creations of yes-men.

You're an idiot.

And it depends on the job and the skills needed.

The schools that deal with academics.

Military school. They usually have more discipline and stuff like that.

The best qualified for the job. Just because someone has a better education, it does not mean they have the practical know-how. Saying that, I would be impressed by a graduate from a Big Three university as it shows that they have the dedication and talent to achieve.

Agreed.

I agree, it does depend on the kind of job it is.

I agree and disagree, a lot of my family was in the military and though they were all very strict rule followers, and stern in-the-box thinkers, they also had a strong sense of leadership simply because they demanded respect at literally every cost, may that be a good or bad thing.

I suppose it would greatly depend on the job.

15 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Sunday 1/28/07 - 10:29:33 PM EST (GMT-5)
depends on the job obviously.
15 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Thursday 7/12/07 - 7:42:04 PM EST (GMT-5)
one of the military academies, they are taught both discipline and leadership there, and are able to use what they have and know to solve problems
15 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Thursday 7/12/07 - 7:43:08 PM EST (GMT-5)
I think they would be about equal in my eyes. Plus it would depend on the position and whatever skills are needed.
15 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Wednesday 8/1/07 - 7:38:50 PM EST (GMT-5)
I think it depends of the situation. But I´m gonna tell you something: I would love to study at a military school (like Bart Simpson, I saw this episode yesterday. LOLOLOLO)

Holy crap! Those all would be the LAST places I'd look for people to hire! For flippin' ANYTHING. I know people from most of those schools and they're mostly spoilt and useless when it comes to actually DOING anything. Jesus. I'd hire someone prepared to WORK, by God!
14 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Thursday 10/25/07 - 7:30:45 PM EST (GMT-5)
If they were fresh out of school/military commitment, I have to say the Service Academies. I think most people fresh out of school, even top-notch schools, are terribly naive and potentially irresponsible. Not that they aren't bringing many other qualities to the table, and not that they won't be the superstars in 10 years' time, but if I'm looking for people who are ready, I'd go with the vet.
14 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Friday 10/26/07 - 8:34:13 AM EST (GMT-5)
Unless I was running a mercenary company, or something where a military-ish background was an asset, I don't know why in the world I should pick a military academy over a prestigious University.
14 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Friday 10/26/07 - 10:51:08 AM EST (GMT-5)
Because they learn all kinds of technical skills, for starters, and have better discipline and responsibility than most fresh grads.
14 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Friday 10/26/07 - 10:59:32 AM EST (GMT-5)
I would think that they're more rounded, and prepared for the real world.
14 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Monday 11/26/07 - 10:26:52 PM EST (GMT-5)
Daddy's money can buy you into Ivy League... tough people come out of military schools.
