A welfare state being any society which will care for the resulting births of the underpriviledged.

'Contraception is sometimes attacked as 'unnatural'... The trouble is, so is the welfare state. I think most of us believe the welfare state is highly desirable. But you cannot have an unnatural welfare state, unless you also have unnatural birth control, otherwise the end result will be misery even greater than that which obtains in nature.'

I don't think it's ever realistic.

I don't think it's realistic to decy contraception while decrying a welfare state - which many conservatives do. Without the contraception, you have an ever greater need for that welfare state.

I don't know of anyone who decries contraception while promoting a welfare state.

The Catholic Church, for one, wanderer.

That quote, by the way, is followed by something even more venomous: "It is hard to believe that this simple truth is not understood by those leaders who forbid their followers to use effective contraceptive methods. They express a preference for 'natural' methods of population limitation, and a natural method is exactly what they are going to get. It is called starvation."

The State itself is unnatural nevermind the specifics of a welfare state (which I do agree is desirable).

I believe that contraception should be encouraged because our world is way too overpopulated. And welfare just allows people who irresponbily procreating to keep doing it and leech off society by doing so.

I don't get it.

Yeah that is stupid. Birth control is one of the first, and most important, steps out of a welfare state.

Certaintly, i'm glad free contraception is available and that those who choose not participate in order to claim the benefits of doing so should not be allowed to.
