No, we just need a new president

Yes. I am glad, but I am cautiously optimistic. Just because they have D's by their names doesn't mean they have the balls (or boobs) to stand up to Bush, and as evee said, we badly need a new president.

Yes, but I don't know how much good that's going to do.

Yes. Now let's hope it matters.

It was good for everyone involved.

The Democrats will benefit from actually being in majority and having to make decisions other than just opposing whatever the Republicans do.

The President will be better for having to actually make plans and compromises, and not having the luxury of knowing that whatever he decides will be ratified.

The Republican Party will be better for getting a kick in their complacency, getting rid of the most obviously incompetent fat-cats who are slowing them down. Maybe even distancing themselves a bit from evangelical religions and focusing on what their political priorities should be.

And the whole country will be better for having cleaned house a bit, and shaken things up.

The same party being in power for too long is almost always detrimental.

Change is good. Let's see if they can stand up to all the claims they have made.

Actually, the Dems really don't seem to be making many decisions now that they are in power. I think that it will be a short lived victory for the Dems that won't carry on past the 2008 elections...
