It's good for staying in shape, it's one of the only sports that fully excercises all of the muscles, but it's not a good way to lose weight.

It's an excellent form of exercise and my favorite.

I've been on a local swim team for about 6 years now, and it's a great form of exercise. It tones you up really well, but there isn't constant strain on your joints. And it's insanely fun.

I LOVE swimming in large pools when they're empty.

Of course! Even just *walking* in the water exercises your muscles, it's a great way to stay in shape! Plus, it's so smooth and easy, it hardly feels like you're working out.

I never really swim but when my bf and I went on holiday we swam for 3 hours a day. When I returned home I found that I could run for long distances without getting out of breath. Good thing is, I never felt that I was doing excersise.

Yes, it's great exersize. I just don't do it because I think public swimming pools are disgusting.

In the generic sense for the general public? Yes, it's wonderful. Works several muscles. Personally, for me, not so much. I can't swim. I doubt that drowning is good exercise.

Agh, I hate swimming. I was forced to be on a swim team for a few years and I hated it so much. It IS good exercise, though.

Yeah, swimming is good. But I cannot, for the life of me, so a butterfly stroke. But I can swim an olympic pool length underwater...or I could when I was 11.

In theory, yes. However without access to the pool in the summer I don't actually do it that well. Plus, as much as I hate to admit it, my form could use some work.

I like swimming. I just don't do it. I am house sitting a place with a pool, but I couldn't find my swimmers, so I haven't been able to go in. If the neighbours weren't so scary I'd consider skinny dipping.
