Maybe the real question should be, are you afraid of being called a homophobe (a homophobe-ophobe) because you dared to like a movie better than tha gay agenda movie, bareback mountain?

This question doesn't make a lot of sense. Both films were great.

It's a joke and a shot at the homosexual backlash against 'Crash' winning 'Best Picture'. Many gays are saying that Hollywood and the Academy are homophobic and that's the only reason they didn't give it to 'Brokeback'.

I find that rather funny. You can't get more liberal than Hollywood, yet people still feel the need to call it prejudice.

Heh, I thought Brokeback Mountain was better than Crash, but I think it's silly to say that the reason Brokeback didn't win Best Picture was because of homophobia, especially because Brokeback actually won as many Oscars than Crash (3 each), even if it didn't win Best Picture.

I'm far from being a homophobe, but I did like Crash better.

I didn't pay attention to the awards and all that stuff. Oh well. Seems a bit of a stupid reason to backlash.

If they thought 'Brokeback' was better than 'Crash' would that make them racist? I liked Transamerica the best.

uh- wait, what? a) The Gay Agenda?! What are you on?! b) This is the stupidiest question ever. Who approved this?! I'm all about the gay people, but I liked Crash. I didn't see either all the way through, though. That's how AWESOME movies are.

I never saw Crash; it looked stupid. BB Mountain was good, but I wasn't surprised it didn't win Picture of the Year.

Haha, I must be a bisexual homophobe, apparently. On a serious note, though, I preferred Crash over Brokeback. I could more easily relate to it. On 3/19/2006 12:10:14 AM nightgoddess wrote: I never saw Crash; it looked stupid. | God. I don't even know what to say. Something that moronic barely even warrants comment. The movie Crash was a lot of things (though I don't know how you'd judge the film without having seen it), but "stupid" wasn't one of them.

Oh jesus god. I'm NOT a homophobe but Crash WAS a better movie and deserved that Award. The people who made Brokeback Mountain would be ashamed of this question, you know. This is exactly what they DIDN'T want. I mean a gay movie gets accepted into the Oscars and all it does is give a negative after effect? Christ.

If you look in Generals, there is a thread about how offended she was that BrokeBack wasn't "Best Picture." I really don't understand why she was so crushed by it, though. It's not as though Brokeback was completely ignored. It was nominated for several other awards.

I believe it WON at least one award, whoever that woman is (not familiar with her-don't care), she needs to accept the fact that she didn't make the best movie of the year, and just because something is semi contraversial doesn't mean everyone has to pay attention to it just because of that. When you honestly compare the two movies and put aside the fact that either of them are contraversial... Crash still wins. And it's over, everyone needs to get over it.

I'm surprised at how many people in here lack a sense of humor or just willfully misunderstand this question.

^Ann Proulx just wrote it... didn't direct/produce/cast it. Sooooo it doesn't really matter who she is. The fact is, she didn't write the best story in Hollywood, this year, or any year. So she can shove it. & .. Oh, I understand this question plenty. I just think it's stupid to even ask. I mean, there are too many people who take that movie so seriously who really DO think if you didn't think it was the best you're just a homophobe. That's why I'm not laughing, it's just not a funny topic, it's old.

If someone were to acknowledge the excellent quality of that film, yet still believe it wasn't "the best", I highly doubt they'd be seen as homophobic by anyone.
