I find that rather funny. You can't get more liberal than Hollywood, yet people still feel the need to call it prejudice.

Heh, I thought Brokeback Mountain was better than Crash, but I think it's silly to say that the reason Brokeback didn't win Best Picture was because of homophobia, especially because Brokeback actually won as many Oscars than Crash (3 each), even if it didn't win Best Picture.

I'm far from being a homophobe, but I did like Crash better.

If you look in Generals, there is a thread about how offended she was that BrokeBack wasn't "Best Picture."

I really don't understand why she was so crushed by it, though. It's not as though Brokeback was completely ignored. It was nominated for several other awards.

I believe it WON at least one award, whoever that woman is (not familiar with her-don't care), she needs to accept the fact that she didn't make the best movie of the year, and just because something is semi contraversial doesn't mean everyone has to pay attention to it just because of that. When you honestly compare the two movies and put aside the fact that either of them are contraversial... Crash still wins. And it's over, everyone needs to get over it.

^Ann Proulx just wrote it... didn't direct/produce/cast it. Sooooo it doesn't really matter who she is. The fact is, she didn't write the best story in Hollywood, this year, or any year. So she can shove it.

Who? If someone were to acknowledge the excellent quality of that film, yet still believe it wasn't "the best", I highly doubt they'd be seen as homophobic by anyone.
