16 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Thursday 2/23/06 - 1:28:08 AM EST (GMT-5)
No, upper-middle class.
16 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Thursday 2/23/06 - 1:33:25 AM EST (GMT-5)
We weren't destitute, but money was very tight... we were on the free lunch program at school and a lot of our clothes came from the Salvation Army, but we lived in a decent apartment complex and never went without the basics...
16 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Thursday 2/23/06 - 3:42:20 PM EST (GMT-5)
No. I´d say we were upper middle class. Owned our own home, took at least one vacation a year, and never went hungry, but still had to work.
16 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Thursday 2/23/06 - 3:55:54 PM EST (GMT-5)
Yes, I sadly was a welfare baby.
16 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Thursday 2/23/06 - 3:56:50 PM EST (GMT-5)
Not quite, but I'd say we are lower-middle class.
16 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Thursday 2/23/06 - 4:42:21 PM EST (GMT-5)
For some of it we weren't then some of it were were...
16 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Sunday 3/5/06 - 9:26:33 AM EST (GMT-5)
Yep, we went bankrupt when I was 8 and had to live in temporary accommodation. We lived off one casserole for a week and made my school uniform.

I still had a good childhood though, and I think I grew up appreciating things more, so I don't resent it or wish it was different.

16 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Sunday 3/5/06 - 11:58:50 AM EST (GMT-5)
Nah, middle-middle to upper-middle class.
16 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Sunday 3/5/06 - 12:35:31 PM EST (GMT-5)
Absolutely. I'm trailer trash.
16 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Sunday 3/5/06 - 12:37:32 PM EST (GMT-5)
All my toys were someone elses before me, as were my clothes. Per the thrift store. And not by choice.

So yeah, we were fecking poor. People just shouldn't be allowed to have children if they're combined incomes are less than $60,000.

16 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Sunday 3/5/06 - 12:43:35 PM EST (GMT-5)
No we weren't poor. I already answered this though. This is a repeat!

16 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Tuesday 3/14/06 - 12:11:12 PM EST (GMT-5)
Sure. I had to steal food from my job at the grocery store to feed my brother and sister.
16 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Tuesday 3/14/06 - 12:28:17 PM EST (GMT-5)
No, we owned the only double wide in the trailer park so everyone called us the Rockefeller's.
16 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Tuesday 3/14/06 - 12:32:42 PM EST (GMT-5)
Nope. Just middle class.
16 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Sunday 3/26/06 - 11:09:54 AM EST (GMT-5)
No. Medical family. Quite well off.
16 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Sunday 3/26/06 - 11:17:53 AM EST (GMT-5)
Not really. Probably weren't as well off as most families, but there was always food on the table, shoes on our feet and a roof overhead. That's all that really mattered.
16 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Monday 3/27/06 - 7:29:15 PM EST (GMT-5)
Yes. My father came to America in the late fifties at 20 years old with very little money. His first job paid $0 an hour. That's right, zero dollars an hour. It was at a mechanic's garage. He took it to learn English and to learn to be an auto mechanic. Through a lot of blood and sweat he was able to bring our family from rags to riches.

I didn't know we were poor when we were kids so I didn't have a bad childhood because of it. I'm actually happy having been poor because today I can really appreciate the good things I've got and what it means to not get what you want all the time.

16 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Wednesday 3/29/06 - 4:51:52 AM EST (GMT-5)
Lower middle class to middle-middle class. We were just right in the middle before my parents got divorced, and then my mom had two more kids and we went even farther in debt.
16 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Friday 3/31/06 - 1:29:35 AM EST (GMT-5)
Nah, we were upper middle class. Actually, we are still upper middle class. But my parents act like snobby rich people.
16 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Monday 5/15/06 - 11:41:01 PM EST (GMT-5)
We were probably not as well off as my parents were able to pretend. But I don't think we were ever called poor.
15 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Wednesday 8/23/06 - 10:19:26 PM EST (GMT-5)
No, everyone said we were rich. Wtfever
15 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Thursday 8/24/06 - 3:56:37 PM EST (GMT-5)
Not really. I think we were middle class.
15 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Thursday 8/24/06 - 3:58:41 PM EST (GMT-5)
Not money wise, my father is a doctor, but that was the only way we were rich. Our family life was f**ked up majorly because of him.

What the hell? That's around £30,000 here, we grew up on £18,000 per year and we were absolutely fine, plus things are cheaper over there...
