My Grandad was, but he was forced to write with his right hand in school, so he always wrote with his right hand.

^^The exact same thing here. Grandfather was a lefty but was forced to write with his right hand and still has bad handwriting today.

My dad was 'converted' to be right handed in gradeschool. My older sister is left handed. My brother and I can both use both hands pretty well, although he is probably more left handed than I am. My younger sister is right handed...

My uncle is, and my first-cousin once removed is as well. I'll count Trav and his mom, since yeah. ;)

A lot of my family are righties, or they are least pretend to be one!

People used to go crazy when they would change their writing hand, but I had a perfectly sane music teacher who had been changed. Also, I'm left handed as well as my dad, although I do almost everything beside's write with my right.

Nope. Everyone is right-handed in my family.

It was back in the day when writing with your left hand was improper. But people would go crazy because depending on the hand you use, it determines what side of your brain you are using.

Wheel: It's a stupid thing, it was done for most of the first half of the last century. "Left' in ancient Greek is 'Sinister', and it was somehow believed that writing with your left hand was evil in some way.

Or something to that effect anyway.

Yeah... what Kan said, and I know that my grandpa's teacher would smack his left hand with a ruler hard every time he tried to write with it.

^^Yep, my grandfather's hand would get smacked as well.

17 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Tuesday 5/17/05 - 6:01:00 PM EST (GMT-5)
Nope, I think most of my family is right handed as far as I know. I can pretty much use both hands now though, after practising.
17 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Tuesday 5/17/05 - 6:13:26 PM EST (GMT-5)
Everyone in my immediate family (except me) is left-handed.
17 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Tuesday 5/17/05 - 6:18:06 PM EST (GMT-5)
My Dad was. My brother was a left handed pitcher until the school he attended forced him to use his right hand. They probably stole a valuable talent!
17 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Tuesday 5/17/05 - 6:18:23 PM EST (GMT-5)
Yup, my brother.
