Ah, I just love people who get pulled out of a burning house and thank 'God' instead of the person who pulled them out... Oh, and don't forget that 'God' punished America by sending those bad, bad hurricanes, tornados, etc. Let's just ignore the fact that children who get beaten and raped on a daily basis have done absolutely nothing to get punished for. And do NOT start on the 'free-will'-poo. Oh, and no, not exactly a 'higher power' - I'll agree with the others who say science and reason.

You don't need to add an anti-relgion rant to every post you know, we get enough of them around here.

I hate people who think that atheists don't have any morals. That basically includes all you people who said "Yeah, money"

People don't need religion to hear voices in their head. We got pills for that.

Life and nature is more beautiful for me, knowing that it came into existence more or less by "accident". Isaac Asimov, an atheist author, describes his belief in what happens after death as "a long, dreamless sleep." Sounds kind of nice, actually.

Isn't the whole premise of atheism that they do not believe in a higher power?

Even Catholics don't hear anything, and if they did, they'd be crazy. Part of the reason why I became atheist, then agnostic (aside from philosophical reasons) was that I looked and listened, and there was nothing else there, nothing beyond my real experience.

I'm agnostic...so I guess I shouldn't answer this question, but since I'm not religious, I sort of want to answer. I've never been literally spoken to, but I have had moments and feelings of there being...something more. I don't know if this is something simply caused by my human brain, but I can't deny that I have felt it.

Haha! I wouldn't want to call myself a "kind of" atheist, though. I find what they believe just as difficult to believe as any religion. But I'm similar enough (not having a religion) that I guess it's okay for me to answer the question.
