In a sense, yes. If you're using your time prodcutively, then eternity will be treated well because something is being done to make sure it lasts longer.

Although, if you're sitting around vegetating, eternity is going to be left to the devices of something else that you won't have control over.

eternity is eternity, therefore it will never end. It doesn't matter what we do with our time; eternity cannot be affected by it, because obviously, eternity has nothing to do with time.

Time is a beginning and an end. There was no beginning to eternity, and there will be no end.

Damage Eternity?

Somebody got stoned and thought this question was SOOOO deep.
17 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Friday 4/15/05 - 11:46:18 PM EST (GMT-5)
'If you knew Time as well as I do,' said the Hatter, 'you wouldn't talk about wasting it. It's him.'

'I don't know what you mean,' said Alice.

'Of course you don't!' the Hatter said, tossing his head contemptuously. 'I dare say you never even spoke to Time!'

'Perhaps not,' Alice cautiously replied: 'but I know I have to beat time when I learn music.'

'Ah! that accounts for it,' said the Hatter. 'He won't stand beating. Now, if you only kept on good terms with him, he'd do almost anything you liked with the clock.

'Is that the way you manage?' Alice asked.

The Hatter shook his head mournfully. 'Not I!' he replied. 'We quarrelled last March--just before he went mad, you know--' (pointing with his tea spoon at the March Hare,) '--it was at the great concert given by the Queen of Hearts, and I had to sing

"Twinkle, twinkle, little bat!
How I wonder what you're at!"

'Well, I'd hardly finished the first verse,' said the Hatter, 'when the Queen jumped up and bawled out, "He's murdering the time! Off with his head!"'

'How dreadfully savage!' exclaimed Alice.

'And ever since that,' the Hatter went on in a mournful tone, 'he won't do a thing I ask! It's always six o'clock now.'

A bright idea came into Alice's head. 'Is that the reason so many tea-things are put out here?' she asked.

'Yes, that's it,' said the Hatter with a sigh: 'it's always tea-time, and we've no time to wash the things between whiles.'

I completely disagree... it damages nothing...
17 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Monday 4/18/05 - 9:34:16 PM EST (GMT-5)
I think it does, in the sense that you could have been doing something very meaningful with your time, but you chose to waste it. Of course, that's what we're all doing right now, so I can't talk!
17 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Tuesday 4/19/05 - 12:57:44 AM EST (GMT-5)
you can't actually kill time...

its just a saying people use to describe being unproductive.

lol what a funny question
17 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Wednesday 4/20/05 - 3:49:51 PM EST (GMT-5)
If killing time makes time fly, would eternity suddenly appear so short that we could catch a glimpse of its ending?

Hmm..

17 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Wednesday 4/20/05 - 8:19:51 PM EST (GMT-5)
^ SomedaySoon - They sure did, if Henry David Thoreau did pot. Which he probably did, but didn't tell anybody.

I remember thinking this was a cool quote when i read it, but not totally true. Sometimes killing time is essential to learn and be happy. Happiness has a good effect on eternity.

This has to be, without a shred of doubt, the dumbest question I have ever seen on this site.

I agree with someday. Somebody wanted to sound philosophical with this one, but its not deep, its one of the dumbest questions that I have ever seen on youthink.
17 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Friday 4/22/05 - 12:03:37 AM EST (GMT-5)
