It's cowardly to hide behind anonymity. This issue should be taken to the Suggestions forum. I asked a question recently that had in the Story a comment that referred to the University of Kentucky's basketball team as "arguably one of the greatest of all time." The mod rejected the question as too narrow. Fine. Wrong, and stupid, but fine. I'm going to re-submit it anyway, and it will get approved by two other mods. What was not fine, however, was that the mod included a snide remark claiming I was crazy and that John Wooden's "USC" teams were clearly better. It was wrong on several levels. For one, Wooden coached UCLA, not USC. Secondly, I said "arguably" because there is no clearcut best team of all-time, and UK would certainly be on the short list of realistic candidates.

I don't think it's cowardly. It makes sense that a mod doesn't sign their name to a rejection. I remember when one of the mods was getting sh*t for rejections, back when the mod number system first appeared. I can imagine that if it had been common knowledge who that mod was, some idiots would have taken it too far and started harassing them personally.

Not really, cuz they never bother to add comments like that to newbies. I'd say it's a sign of affection- they care enough about you to take the time to add a snide remark.

as moderators they have power...they shouldnt abuse it...remarks are one thing...but refusing because of preference for one type of ball team or the truth of a question is silly.

I don't think mods are THAT lame . What is there to be afraid of? Is it that my paint-drawn avy that looks threatening?
They obviously wouldn't be afraid of consequence, because as you said, they can get reported either way. They also wouldn't be afraid of a ruined reputation because you can't share PM's, right?
That only leaves the possibility that they are afraid of what YOU (the person they are snide to) will think about them. The chances of that though are pretty unlikely.
If there is nothing to be afraid of, why would you be cowardice?
