If you`re a conservative in the U.S., does it bother you that our greatest allies in the war on terror are controlled by their country`s more liberal parties?

I think you have it backwards, bog.

Actually, even if they were the conservative parties over there, many of them are liberal by US standards.

Turn it on its head, as a socialist in the UK it bothers me that Blair has affiliated himself with Bush for no political or monetary gain - at least Cheney wil get his Haliburton paycheck....Blair will forever be tainted by his association with the monkeyboy president!

No, it doesn't. Liberal in the US isn't exactly equal to the liberal standings of other nations and even if it was, I wouldn't care. Besides, allies are allies.

It's going to be hard to find a party further right than your Republicans. They're bordering extremism.

I don't want to instigate anything but most liberalists now give conservatives a bad rap intentionally. They think they're controlling our governement and they try to. Bush won and I'm happy he did. They can deal with it. I'm not trying to sound biased or anything but a ton of liberalists can be held responsible for the chaos and they're also weakening America as a country such as turning on each other. They need to stop throwing their tantrums.

"Liberal in the US isn't exactly equal to the liberal standings of other nations and even if it was, I wouldn't care."

Liberal in the US equals conservative in most other nations.

As long as they make the right decision when it comes to policy, I don't care what their persuasion is.

"They need to stop throwing their tantrums."

Dissent equals tantrums?

Actually, many of our allies are run by conservative parties. Except for the U.K. Spain had a conservative government, but they were ousted in the elections by the socialists. And Italy is being run by Berlusconi, who isn't exactly a liberal.
17 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Sunday 3/6/05 - 10:06:49 PM EST (GMT-5)
Blair is a Conservative who highjacked the Socialist Party and pretended to turn it into a progressive liberal party.

long as they are helping, I couldn't care what their internal view of the politics are...

As another British Socialist, I agree.

Personally, I don't really think of Mr Bliar (spot the deliberate typo) as liberal anymore.

Blair made a right decision, he did the right thing, liberal or not.

It's not just the war in Iraq that's changed my opinion of Blair. Some of his domestic policies leave a lot to be desired.

Guys, reality check. We consider the DEMOCRATS to be right wing reactionaries.

The Republicans on the other hand....
