18 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Monday 6/14/04 - 4:20:34 AM EST (GMT-5)
It's a good idea and I hope it is at least 60% productive, but I have serious doubts they will be able to keep up with the traffic. One of the problems of internet technology is that it moves too fast for the law to keep up.
18 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Monday 6/14/04 - 5:59:57 AM EST (GMT-5)
I don't chat online...
18 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Monday 6/14/04 - 6:38:03 AM EST (GMT-5)
I'd feel scared if I knew a police officer was listening on what my friends and I were saying onlne. We don't say anything bad. It's just I kind of feel a little privacy invasion with the possibility of the police listening to every word.
18 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Monday 6/14/04 - 6:53:53 AM EST (GMT-5)
I think it's a really good idea...there's all kinds of sickos out there!
18 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Monday 6/14/04 - 7:00:28 AM EST (GMT-5)
Uncomfortable. For one thing, there so much of it that it would be impossible to track each and every single conversation. For another thing, I am entitled to privacy and this violates it.
18 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Monday 6/14/04 - 7:22:59 AM EST (GMT-5)
Totally uncomfortable. It is none of the police's business what I say online. Now, if I could be sure that they'd only go after the sickos and totally ignore all innocent chats, I might feel differently. But this would be impossible.
18 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Monday 6/14/04 - 8:28:09 AM EST (GMT-5)
I don't chat in chat rooms. And if they're only going after the pervs, more power to them. As the mom of an almost-teen, I don't mind at all, though I can see the potential for abuse.
18 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Tuesday 6/15/04 - 2:44:09 PM EST (GMT-5)
I dont chat in chat rooms either
18 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Tuesday 6/15/04 - 2:45:52 PM EST (GMT-5)
Yeah, both.
18 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Tuesday 6/15/04 - 2:48:42 PM EST (GMT-5)
I've only been in chat rooms a couple times. And I've never said anything illegal that I know of.
18 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Wednesday 6/16/04 - 9:58:01 AM EST (GMT-5)
i no alot of people who will flip.i would if it was MSN that they were moneriting...cuz i would be in a lot of trouble for just joking around with stuff my friends and i say....as for chat rooms meh i dont really go in to them anymore but i think its a major invasion of privacy which is not some thing any one should take lightly
18 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Wednesday 6/16/04 - 9:58:52 AM EST (GMT-5)
Doesn't make a difference to me.
18 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Wednesday 6/16/04 - 10:01:38 AM EST (GMT-5)
i don't go on chat rooms but if i did i guess i would be a little annoyed becasue if there was a perv on there i'd just change my name and report them.
18 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Wednesday 6/16/04 - 10:14:50 AM EST (GMT-5)
I don't go on chat rooms so it wouldn't effect me much. This is a loss of personal freedom, but a gain in safety. I would say that as long as they stick to public chat rooms it would be ok. If they start reading everybodies AIM or other IM, then I would feel Uncomfortable
18 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Wednesday 6/16/04 - 10:41:48 PM EST (GMT-5)
Is a chat room public domain?

I think the concern is where children are "groomed" for abuse, such as when an adult asks them for their address or suggests a meeting, I saw a report on TV and the proposal was that in these instances a warning would pop up too both parties that this was inappropriate.

18 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Friday 6/25/04 - 9:51:35 PM EST (GMT-5)
definatly uncomfortable for reasons only i need 2 know
18 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Thursday 7/1/04 - 11:00:21 PM EST (GMT-5)
I get in trouble for enough things already...do I really need to get into more? No. I dont think so. Privacy much? Thats like my dad going through my room...very creepy.
17 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Sunday 8/15/04 - 1:23:33 AM EST (GMT-5)
I keep voting uncomfortably but it says 'vote not counted'. Anyone else have this problem?
17 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Sunday 8/15/04 - 1:26:20 AM EST (GMT-5)
doesn't seem like a bad idea, as long as they stick to warnings and not arresting people 'just in case.'
17 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Sunday 8/15/04 - 1:28:05 AM EST (GMT-5)
How comfortable would someone feel is their phone conversations were overheard?? this is ridiculous.
17 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Sunday 8/15/04 - 1:28:11 AM EST (GMT-5)
why are 70% of us uncomfortable about police warning off paedophiles??
17 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Sunday 8/15/04 - 1:29:01 AM EST (GMT-5)
its not about pedophiles, its about invasion of privacy, come on
17 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Sunday 8/15/04 - 1:41:55 AM EST (GMT-5)
It doesn't really affect me. I don't send IM's or go in chat rooms or do anything even remotely "suspicious."
17 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Sunday 8/15/04 - 2:38:24 AM EST (GMT-5)
Now, that I've read the article, I say that its a good idea.
