Invulnerability: Superman is nearly invulnerable to weapons used by normal humans in warfare and we believe that, fully powered, he could survive a near-direct nuclear strike with a ten megaton warhead.

Super Strength: The upper limit to his physical strength is not known but with the telekinetic lifting capabilities possessed by Superman, he could conceivably lift objects weighing 100,000 tons or more.

Energy Projection: He may project beams of force that have the ability to reach temperatures of 11,000 degrees F, sufficient to melt steel in seconds.

Super Senses: He also possesses a superior sensory arrangement of microscopic, telescopic, infrared and ultraviolet visual capabilities. His hearing is so acute and precise he can detect a whisper at 500 yards.

Superspeed: He has been seen flying from the Moon to the Earth in under 2 minutes. That is the equivalent of 2000 miles per second or 1% the speed of light.

Weaknesses: Kryptonite, Magic, High Energy Attacks or Radiation

Maybe. But Batman could beat him with attitude.

Yeah, but he could die when faced with a chunk of his own planet. I'd say the battle's pretty even.

of course not!!!! superman is legendary, one of the things like santa that you just don't question as a youth that stands for justice, and justice is never too powerful

"When Christopher Reeve was Superman, he flew around the world so fast he sent us all back in time an hour or so. That would have to be faster than light."

It's not a good idea to use comic book movies as reference points.

Batman is so much more awesome, because anyone could be Batman. He was driven by emotion and will and inner strength, he was just an average Joe who was wicked rich and wicked rightous! Batman kicks any mutant/"super" hero's ass anyday of the week without even trying.

I'm totally more of a Batman fan... everything comes way too easy for superman... batman, however is like the average joe (except rich) and he fights crime using his brain AND brawn... unlike superman...

"how would he fare in a communist or socialist state, having all that power?" Wasn't Colossus from the old X-men comics from communist Russia? They made a few comments about how he seemed to manage in their society back then.

Superman may or may not be too strong, but one thing's for sure, he is certainly far too boring.
I'm ashamed to say I'm quite getting into smallville. At least the characters there seem to have personalities.

He's too powerful....he's SUPPOSED to be too powerful.
That's what Superman is all about.
Silly question.

he stops missles, but flinches when a gun is thrown at him. wtf?
he is a bit too powerful for my tastes, but bizarro superman is cool.

Watching him in cartoons, he doesn't always seem like the most powerful.

Besides, Green Lantern can survive in space without a spacesuit. Superman can't.

"Watching him in cartoons, he doesn't always seem like the most powerful.

That's because the cartoon tones him down considerably. And Superman can survive in space unaided for extremely long periods of time.

Once again you can't use movies or cartoons for reference points when it comes to comic books. They change too many aspects of thier powers.

Yeag
17 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Monday 2/14/05 - 2:13:53 AM EST (GMT-5)
Yeah, but then again, he's a superhero. He's supposed to be.

Superman kicks so much hanis anis, Batman is pissed about his parents...cry me a river, Superman lost his parents his plant and everyone of his kind, Superman is an alien fight for human kind. Plus he is the only one (other then the real God) that has absolute power but is not absolutly curupt, but maybe that too has to due with the fact he is not human. He needs more power ... Vote Superman 2008.
