Do you see sexual symbolism in Georgia O`Keeffe`s flower paintings?

That pink rose in the left picture is beautiful but makes me think about female genitalia for some reason.

I think we all know what Georgia was thing about when she painted this... Or she just wanted to accuse everyone else of being a perv.

Of course. She's well known for her irises resembling female genitalia.

18 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Saturday 1/10/04 - 9:30:59 PM EST (GMT-5)
Well once you bring attention to it, yea, I do. Especially in the one on the left. But I dont think I would've seen anything in the one on the right if you hadn't said something.
18 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Saturday 1/10/04 - 9:34:22 PM EST (GMT-5)
I have an O'keefe poster in my basement. Everything thinks it looks like a vagina. I agree.
18 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Saturday 1/10/04 - 9:51:45 PM EST (GMT-5)
The one on the left looks like a chicken eating corn out of someone's A-hole.

18 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Tuesday 1/20/04 - 5:33:31 PM EST (GMT-5)
Yeah, sure. But what I mostly see when I look at her paintings is another goddamned flower.
18 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Tuesday 1/27/04 - 2:31:02 AM EST (GMT-5)
Very similar to the movie "The Wall".
18 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Tuesday 1/27/04 - 5:48:34 AM EST (GMT-5)
that was kind of the intent, wasn't it?
18 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Monday 2/2/04 - 7:03:06 PM EST (GMT-5)

18 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Friday 2/6/04 - 10:09:20 PM EST (GMT-5)

18 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Monday 2/9/04 - 3:45:46 PM EST (GMT-5)
I didn't when I first saw the picture, then I read the question...
18 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Monday 2/9/04 - 3:47:48 PM EST (GMT-5)

18 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Monday 2/9/04 - 3:58:42 PM EST (GMT-5)
What the hell is a bahgina?
18 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Tuesday 2/10/04 - 11:06:18 AM EST (GMT-5)
ever since i've researched her painting in the 8th grade(12th now) i've been kinda... fasinated by her work. it's so flowy and it does resemeble sex in a way i guess.
18 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Tuesday 6/1/04 - 7:14:23 AM EST (GMT-5)
yeah, i do. in 9th grade my friend was gonna do a history report on her but she changed her mind. my teacher tried to talk her out of it by telling her "Don't you want to do a repost about flowers that look like vaginas". Man that teacher was awesome.
18 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Monday 6/7/04 - 9:45:04 AM EST (GMT-5)
The first time I looked at it I just saw paintings of flowers. All the comments about bahingas and vaginas tell me more about the people looking at the paintings than the paintings themselves. I didn't think or see what most posters here said they thought and saw.

Georgia O Queef was a funny comment
