I don't see any reason to take it out - pageants are somewhat degrading even if you aren't parading around in swim wear

I wish they didn't wear any swim suit at all; make it naked!

The whole point of a pagent is your body not your brains so no. THe pageant is already degrading thing.

Yeah real tough questions they get there, it takes a rocket scientist to say they want world peace!

the talent and question bits should be taken out. The only talent people should look at lies for all to see in the bikini bit, and they shouldn't speak, sometimes ruins it.

Take out the talent and question portions - it's a beauty contest, it's degrading, might as well be *honestly* degrading and leave the parts requiring brains for some other worthy contest that doesn't require two pounds of makeup (or even, for that matter, a vagina).

The Miss America pagent is seriously f-cked up. If its a beauty pagent, why do they have the interviews? If its a scholarship program,(as it has been claimed to be), then why do they have the swimsuit competition? Anybody could wear a bikini/swimsuit! And if it really truly is a scholarship program, they should make the questions a lot harder. I mean, it is so obvious that only Einstein could tell you that what we need is world peace.

It's a 'beauty' contest. So what they look like is the most important thing. And there's nothing wrong with looking at beautiful girls in swim suits.

I think we should just stop pretending a beauty pageant is more than what it is and they should just be nude..

no they should take out the personality part ! that is far more agonizing listening to those airheads talk about world peace while your bombing a bunch of camels and tents in the middle of nowhere .

Do ya ever notice how they don't call it a beauty contest anymore? The pageant ppl anyway, they just call it a pageant not a beauty pageant. They need a swim suit portion b/c the contestants must be physically fit, it is important in defining one's character. You don't want to make some fat slob the symbol of your nation even if only temporarily .

Gee, now I feel like the odd-one-out. I think so...only because I feel that some "religions" oppose the whole idea because of the swimsuit part..

As far as the scholarships go, how else is a girl supposed to get a college education, in a world where all the scholarships are given to foot ball players? If dumb jocks can get a free ride, why not bimbos too? Ya’ll are just being sexist, and trying to keep women out of college.

no, it matters more than i could say what a girl looks like half naked to decide whether or not she is the best airhead in america.

They have other parts of beauty pageants than just the swimsuit part? Well if they get rid of the good part I doubt so many people would watch them.
