I think animals hear all our various noises as a long endless stream of incessant chatter.

I just thought it was an odd question to ask...I mean they have to think it means some kind of weird communication, right? I figured it sounds the most like growling, since they don't burp..and we don't growl..
18 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Monday 10/6/03 - 5:21:59 PM EST (GMT-5)
I growl and so do a lot of people I know. In fact I growl withjout even thinking about it. Also some hon-human animals do burp just not necessarily in the same fashion humans do or as often.

They do burp, arctic.
18 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Monday 10/6/03 - 5:23:19 PM EST (GMT-5)
In the 15 years I've had animals, I never once heard them burp...just fart..
18 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Monday 10/6/03 - 5:25:34 PM EST (GMT-5)
That doesn't mean you're right.
18 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Monday 10/6/03 - 5:26:01 PM EST (GMT-5)
I've had my cat for 11 years and I've heard him burp a lot...and everyone who owns a dog that I know says their dog burps.
18 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Monday 10/6/03 - 5:26:37 PM EST (GMT-5)
I've heard my Mike dog burp when I had him. It was kinda funny. It wasn't loud like a humans but it was definately a burp.
18 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Monday 10/6/03 - 5:26:54 PM EST (GMT-5)
Well considering animals burp all the time(most of them anyways) and they're a lot more intelligent than people give them credit for I'd say they know the difference. In fact I know they know the difference.
18 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Monday 10/6/03 - 5:27:22 PM EST (GMT-5)
No it doesn't mean I'm right, but it does mean I never heard it so I can assume they don't do it often enough to know we do it too..
I've owned 4 dogs, never heard it...maybe I just got lucky..
18 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Monday 10/6/03 - 5:27:56 PM EST (GMT-5)
Maybe what you think is a fart is a burp?
18 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Monday 10/6/03 - 5:28:46 PM EST (GMT-5)
Hahaha trust me...burps don't smell like that, or come out backwards..

18 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Monday 10/6/03 - 5:31:10 PM EST (GMT-5)
It's not like a human burp, you know. Not a belch. The animal sort of convulses a little and makes a grumbling sound.
18 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Monday 10/6/03 - 5:33:33 PM EST (GMT-5)
That's interesting I honestly never heard it before...of course maybe because it doesnt sound like ours..
18 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Monday 10/6/03 - 6:07:48 PM EST (GMT-5)
trust me, you've never known gross-out until you have a 90 lbs german shepherd lick your cheek and promtly belch at the same time
18 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Monday 10/6/03 - 6:20:11 PM EST (GMT-5)

LOL ashley!
17 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Friday 1/2/04 - 11:47:33 PM EST (GMT-5)
haha perhaps, but I growl back at my dog

GRRR

17 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Sunday 1/4/04 - 10:10:50 AM EST (GMT-5)
Animals are not able to think out such a concept. They go by a human's actions, rather than what particular sound is coming from their mouth.
17 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Friday 1/30/04 - 7:04:11 PM EST (GMT-5)
do you have a lot of time on your hands?
17 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Saturday 1/31/04 - 7:44:32 AM EST (GMT-5)
Some animals can't burp. Rats and horses, for example, as I think I said before somewhere.
