OK silly mods.

One of you rejected this for bad grammar because I capitalized the name of the Boston Tea Party.

19 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Thursday 8/28/03 - 3:30:24 PM EST (GMT-5)
I don't know that anyone was killed in the incident. In fact, despite it being described as a riotous affair, it was really quiet. Some guys quietly slipped on to a boat and quietly dumped some tea in Boston Harbor.

The loudest sound that could be heard was 'ker-plunk'!

19 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Thursday 8/28/03 - 3:30:57 PM EST (GMT-5)
I think so, yeah.
19 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Thursday 8/28/03 - 3:32:30 PM EST (GMT-5)
By every definition.
19 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Thursday 8/28/03 - 3:34:44 PM EST (GMT-5)
No no no... Boredofu, we're only fighting muslim terrorism. If you're a Christian fundamentalist who wants to bomb a abortion clinic, by all means, please do.

Boston tea party, weren't muslims so it's allright.

19 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Thursday 8/28/03 - 3:35:03 PM EST (GMT-5)
It was meant to make a statement and it had the destruction of property and goods. Even tho no life was lost, it still counts as an act of terrorism. Also, because they dressed up as indians at the time, it could have been done to provoke fear and prevent outsider merchants from wanting to trade.
19 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Thursday 8/28/03 - 3:35:32 PM EST (GMT-5)
No, I don't think so. Not in any way was it terrorism. It was a protest. It was destruction of property. Perhaps, it broke several laws pertaining to commerce, but it was not terrorism.
19 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Thursday 8/28/03 - 3:37:39 PM EST (GMT-5)
The unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence by a person or an organized group against people or property with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments, often for ideological or political reasons.

Tsu,it's terrorism in every definition of the word.
I think people just forget that terrorism isn't all about bombing places

19 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Thursday 8/28/03 - 4:17:03 PM EST (GMT-5)
There was no threat of violence. A group of men quietly slipped on to a ship and quietly dumped some tea in the harbor....and yes, for political reasons.

If that is "terrorism", then so is toilet papering someone's house.

19 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Thursday 8/28/03 - 4:20:30 PM EST (GMT-5)
It was unlawful use of force by a group of people with the intention of coercing governemnts, with an political ideal in mind.

fits the definition perfectly.

it's not like TPing someones house, more like robbing it and then throwing away everything you stole.

19 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Thursday 8/28/03 - 4:21:09 PM EST (GMT-5)
Their may not have been a "threat",but destroying that tea was a violent act.
Destruction=violence
19 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Thursday 8/28/03 - 4:29:04 PM EST (GMT-5)
The unlawful use (or threatened use) of force (or violence) by (a person or) an organized group against (people or) property with the intention of intimidating or coercing (societies or) governments, (often) for (ideological or) political reasons.

or

The unlawful use of force by an organized group against property with the intention of intimidating or coercing governments, for political reasons

19 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Thursday 8/28/03 - 4:30:11 PM EST (GMT-5)
Yea,that's it.
19 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Thursday 8/28/03 - 4:42:12 PM EST (GMT-5)
By that definition, if the war against Iraq was justified by the use of fake inteligence then it could be deemed unlawfull and therefore terrorism.
19 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Thursday 8/28/03 - 4:45:29 PM EST (GMT-5)
It's not unlawful if the president does it,sheesh bored,I thought you were smart
19 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Thursday 8/28/03 - 4:49:07 PM EST (GMT-5)
He is not the president.
19 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Thursday 8/28/03 - 4:50:13 PM EST (GMT-5)
Then what?
19 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Monday 9/1/03 - 1:41:40 PM EST (GMT-5)
Then who is the President?
19 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Monday 9/1/03 - 1:44:01 PM EST (GMT-5)
all they did was throw some tea in water. i mean, people would be doing that anyway!
19 yrs ago - Saturday 9/6/03 - 6:16:39 PM EST (GMT-5)
I thought it was meant as a revenge thing... or a protest maybe... but not terrorism by any means. I agree with what Tsurumi is saying.
18 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Thursday 10/9/03 - 9:11:14 AM EST (GMT-5)
Wait, am I wrong but didnt the Boston tea party thing happen because England was charging taxes and people who lived in the 13 Colonies(USA) didnt want to pay the taxes so they dumped all the tea in the harbour and that was one of the starters of the American Revolution? So, if what I just said is right, I think that was more of a protest than an act of terrorism.
18 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Thursday 10/9/03 - 9:28:39 AM EST (GMT-5)
So are you saying acts of terrorism can't be carried out against property?
18 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Thursday 10/9/03 - 9:32:51 AM EST (GMT-5)
Bored...you asking me?
