Yes...95% of the worlds population is religious. I know from personal expirence that if you are publicly an athiest than you get yelled at by religious folk all the time.

its such a shame. an atheist president might actually have some sense.

If one is constantly being yelled at, I would think that it is not unprovoked...

i wish there would be an atheist president, that would be cool. but i think either of them could come equaly. or something. and as for 95% being religious, thats really hard to believe. and im sure its not true.

Yes, I think so because I don't think an atheist has ever run for president before.

Dimension--It can be unprovoked, but generally, religious types generally cannot determine that one is an Atheist unless said Atheist does something to indicate that. On this site, (as well as real life) that indication usually comes in the form of an insult directed toward one's god or religion. Otherwise, Atheists don't get yelled at any more than anyone else for their beliefs.

An atheist running for such a high office wouldn't get two steps out the door...and that's only if it's RUMORED that they're an atheist.
It was even a big deal when we elected a catholic.

Yet its not the god or religion getting the insult is it? You need to get over yourself for a minute. Maybe if you take a breather and stop trying to herd all atheists into a demonic bunch of God-killers, you would realize that its not the god or religion that they cant stand.

I agree with Omega. Usually athiests can't stand the imposition of one's beliefs on the surrounding world. I always hated things like "In God We Trust," etc. What would people say if it said "We Trust in No God." That might change some people's perspectives on the issue, mightn't it?

On the other hand, Glenn has a point. I was never yelled at by anyone for being an Athiest, except for my cousins (back when I considered myself one.) I was occasionally confronted but I occasionally confronted some people as well- friends mostly.

dorothy, your 95% figure is wrong.... the Chinese alone comprise 25% of the world's population, and they are atheist...

hmmmmm just because they write that on forms (to stop them being persecuted) you can't rely on it.

as for an atheist president, that's not what American red necks want... it's easier to manipulate the masses with myths, rather than with common sense....

glennh70, people from the oppressive Muslim theocracies like Iran are still considered Muslim....
since most governments use religion as a tool of manipulation, it's the religious figure that's exaggerated...

of the three (black, female or athiest) i think the female president will come first..

people from oppressed Muslim theocracies probably ARE Muslims because they get it drummed in every day. If a communist state bans religion though people can still dream and wonder about what's going on out there....
And I agree with Postal about that!
