I stopped using an alarm clock in 1990. It's a violent way to wake up. Funny thing is I wake up, alert, 10 minutes before I need to if I decde on a time I have to get up. I just have to have a clock to check up on when I do.

I set my alarm clock for a random number of minutes early, so that I can't sit in bed once the alarm rings and know that I have a certain amount of minutes 4 i wake up, I never know how many minutes I have, so I get up when the alarm rings..make sense?
