This seems to be a stereptype that's pretty true. I mean, let's look at the NFL, and try to remember your high school baseball team. What a sad gene pool that was.

I just spelled stereotype sterotype while criticizing other people's intellects. Well, at least the athletes won't know the difference.

There is a little truth to it in that it is hard to be well-rounded, and spending the time necessary to be good at a sport sometimes comes at the expense of scholarly study. Similarly, someone who spends all his or her time studying may not develop physical aptitude as well. But that's just the nurture side of athletics and intellect. As far as nature is concerned, people have different strengths. If you excel in any one area, you draw a spotlight that also highlights your weakness. There are plenty of dumb non-athletes out there whose lack of intelligence is ignored because they have no other platform on which to be ruthlessly and tirelessly scrutinized. I can accept that there are some truths to this stereotype, but if we *assume* it and judge others on it without knowing them, we are doing them a disservice.

Sportspeople can be enormous nerds when it comes to calculating their optimum kcal/carb/protein/fat intakes and how heavy exactly to do their exercises and how long and how to time their meals.
