When it comes to their cause, animal activists are more sensible. But when it comes to implementing their cause in the form of protesting, environmentalists win by a mile.

I think they are both pretty ridiculous. Environmental activists in general don't care so much about the planet as they do about having a clean place to live. Animal rights jackoffs want to save the animals, but only the cute ones. That, and they seem to conveniently forget the fact that, regardless of mankind's behaviour on this planet, 25 species of animals become extinct everyday. 99% of all the species of animals that have ever existed were extinct before mankind climbed down out of the trees, so these idiots can walk east till their hats float as far as I'm concerned.

I'd say they are on the same level

don't know, don't care

I have respect for both, and often you'll find that the two groups are made up of the same people.

An animal activist once put a pipe bomb under my biology teacher's car (luckily it didn't go off), so I think the activists, whilst I can understand the point of view, are stupid and dangerous.

I think that both are a little kooky.

I don;t know
some of them are really kooky

Animal activism isn't as important because it's usually not going to affect biodiversity or extinction, which is included in environmentalism anyway. Animal rights groups are just about not eating or putting chemicals on animals, for the most part.

Better or worse? I think they're both good, in principle. It's important to respect individual animals, but it's also important to respect the environment that sustains them.

Also, I don't know any environmentalists that aren't also, by definition, animal activists (animals being part of the environment)

"I think they are both pretty ridiculous. Environmental activists in general don't care so much about the planet as they do about having a clean place to live."

Hmm... you need to have a talk with an environmentalist. Environmentalism goes beyond picking up your own backyard. Not that that's a bad idea.

"Animal rights jackoffs want to save the animals, but only the cute ones."

There are some like that. They're shallow, but saving cute animals is better than not saving any at all.

"That, and they seem to conveniently forget the fact that, regardless of mankind's behaviour on this planet, 25 species of animals become extinct everyday. 99% of all the species of animals that have ever existed were extinct before mankind climbed down out of the trees"

I'm at a loss as to how this makes it OK to mistreat any extant animals or animal taxa. Perhaps you can elucidate for me?

I don't have any numbers infront of me, but I'm willing to bet that 99% of all humans that have ever lived are currently dead, and I'm willing to bet that a good 100,000 plus people die each day - that doesn't make it right to mistreat everyone else, now does it?
