I think I read that head wounds that render someone unconscious are very likely to cause permanent damage if they don't kill the person. It's not like in the movies.

Well f*ck. Damn media fooled me.

Then maybe should lock your doors and close your downstairs windows at night. And who the f*ck has a bedroom on the third floor and gets up in the middle of the night to go all the way to the basement to pee? I never said to incessantly beat the intruders head in. Just smack him in the head one time so that he's unconscious. And in this case, accidentally killing someone is different than intentionally killing someone- - trust me, the evidence would be clear on the body if it was intentional.

People like me who live in a house with 3 floors and I have to go to the first floor to use the only bathroom.

If you beat someone until they stop moving and then continue beating them until they are literally dead, you've got some serious issues.

Too often I see people equating the right to defend themselves to the right to take the life of another. You seem to be saying that there are no alternatives to killing an intruder if you don't want them taking your sh*t and/or hurting you.

I like the idea of chambering a round loudly and warning them better, but I support the legal right of a homeowner to shoot an intruder.

If someone breaks into your home, it's not unreasonable to assume they might be armed and plan to do you bodily harm.

Personally, I'd rather deal w/ replacing some of my stuff than live w/ the knowledge that I killed someone, even legally.

Oh yes! When a person enters your home you have the right to protect yourself.

If I have to kill them to protect my family, I will.
9 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Sunday 7/21/13 - 3:07:38 AM EST (GMT-5)
Of course they should. They deserve what's coming to them if they decide to intrude on your space and frighten the living daylights out of you.If deadly force is what is needed to protect yourself from harm, then that's what needs to be done, and the intruder deserves it.Your home is where you should feel safest

having the right to bear arms is the second amendment in the US, and i live in the US so i think that yes, it should be allowed to use deadly force to defend yourself, your family, and your property.

You shouldn't do more damage than is needed though

they should be allowed to protect themselves from harm of course, but not use deadly force just to protect their possessions

you may not have time to determine that. If he broke in your house when people might be there its a safe assumption he has no lovei n his heart for you.

WTF?!?! If someone enters MY home in the middle of the night, I would shoot FIRST then check to see if they are armed! My possessions and my family come before some f**k who is trying to take what is mine!! I work too damn hard!!

How do you know whether or not the intruder is armed?

NO. As a general rule. Unless say, they raped or killed someone in the house and are trying to get away. Then it becomes a legal Grey area if you then have them in your sights.
8 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Monday 1/13/14 - 6:30:31 PM EST (GMT-5)
Oh, absolutely. I would not be in the mood to ask questions nor wait around to see what's up. I would fire some rounds then file suit against the estate of the bastard for my carpet cleaning bill.

past me, once again you perfectly express my thoughts
8 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Monday 1/13/14 - 7:47:31 PM EST (GMT-5)
Got to be honest, if I see an intruder in my home, I'm assuming the worst case scenario, and attacking them with the maximum possible force. You don't know what their intentions are, and I have no intention of taking any chances with the life of me or my family.

I would far rather deal with legal ramifications of having killed an intruder than the consequences of not responding with sufficient force. Because those consequences can get pretty damn bad pretty damn quick.

And why do people stupidly insist on things like "Well can you kill them when they've left?" Of course not! That's written right into the question! Defend your home with whatever force needed. If they've left, you've defended your home.
8 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Monday 1/13/14 - 7:50:37 PM EST (GMT-5)
Bear in mind also, some random guy taken from the set of people who are breaking into houses will quite possibly be a hardened criminal, and unless you're trained, a lot handier in a fight. Attacking with anything less than everything you've got is a recipe to lose. You're at a disadvantage. You're suprised, he knew he'd be there. You've probably just woken up, may well not be properly dressed, and you've no idea if the guy has a knife, a gun, or three more friends waiting in the next room.
