I don't think there is a ~correct~ age.
I don't think anyone is ever ~ready~ for the life changes a baby brings.

I'm 22 and pregnant with my second child, I did all of my partying a couple of years ago.
Some might say I'm too young to have two kids, I'm happy I'm having them young.

Physically... yes, there is a span. In general?... no. I may never want one, and for other people, they may be 'ready' at many different ranges of times.

I don't think it's so much an 'age'. I think that one's readiness to have a baby depends more on life stability--means of support, appropriate place to live, supportive partner, etc.

In history women were married and having children at 13, I'm unsure of what made it change, I think it was christianity but I'm not sure.

this was changed because back then the average life span was about 25-30 years old and you had to be able to raise your child so it was the sooner the better

Yes. Older than 18. Common sense begins to set in around then.
15 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Thursday 9/1/05 - 1:24:40 PM EST (GMT-5)
The life span was down because more infants died, not because people didn't live that long. I have no idea what made people stop doing that.
15 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Sunday 9/4/05 - 7:55:07 AM EST (GMT-5)
i reckon about 30 and onwards. 'cos its usually about if you're mature enough and are financially stable isnt it?
15 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Monday 9/5/05 - 1:04:01 AM EST (GMT-5)
at least in their 20's

they stoped having kids at 13 because they are still kids themselves.

15 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Monday 9/12/05 - 2:57:40 PM EST (GMT-5)
It depends on the woman and her surroundings. Some women just shouldn't have kids while others were born natural mothers.
15 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Monday 9/12/05 - 4:15:37 PM EST (GMT-5)
I had my sons when I was 27 and 29.

That was a good age for me. I was mature enough to raise kids, and young enough to keep up with them.

15 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Thursday 9/15/05 - 4:05:31 PM EST (GMT-5)
It's not a question of age. It's depends on the woman's maturity and repsonsibility levels

Maturity, not age.

Most females are physically ready in their teens.
15 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Friday 12/9/05 - 11:46:00 AM EST (GMT-5)

I'd say late 20's, too. My mom was 29 when she had me, 37 when she had my sister, and 43 when she had my other sister.
