GRRRRRR!!! As with Harry Potter, they need to make two movies-one for the obsessed fans that expect the movie to stick exactly to the book, and one for the saner people who are just expecting a movie, not a re-enactment. They got the plot all wrong! Violet wasn't supposed to get married at the end, it was supposed to be at the beginning, and they don't find out who burned down their house until book ten or something like that, and.....oooh, I could go on and on, but I won't. It was good as a movie, but didn't meet my expectations at all.
Klaus is soooo sexy ! Other than that, this movie sucks.
Fans of the book (like me) will want to throw popcorn at the screen and scream! The marriage was at the end too which REALLY got me mad. It seemed that at the end, they tried to make it kinda happy, but it was cheesy and I wanted to puke....
I really didn't like the movie. I didn't like the books either I read about half of the first book and couldn't get into it. I agree the sets were cool, but the movie was just so cheesy. I was hoping for it to be more dark and mysterious.
Great movie. I am a fan of the books, and some of the events are out of order, and some aren't even in the books, but I was very pleased nonetheless. Excellent acting all round, and a gret mixture of modern and 'olden-day' themes. And seriously, who could surpass Jum Carrey with this role? (Other than Johnny Depp, maybe.)
I never read the books, so I guess that contributed to my enjoyment. I thought it was a thoroughly enjoyable movie-going experience. The sets were incredible, and it should definitely get an Oscar nomination for art direction. The kids were cute characters, but I wasn't exactly blown away by their acting. Jim Carrey's though was awesome. I also loved Streep's part as Josephine.
Never read the books before, but enjoyed this. Jim Carrey was suprisingly bearable, the kids sufficed and the look of it was amazing. The twins that played Sunny were the most adorable thing ever, so cute and stole the film.
this movie was terrible, i felt like gouging my eyes out for every second that passed, if it wasn't pouring outside at the time, i would have walked out. please oh please, if youre thinking about seeing it dont. Learn from my mistakes and save you and you date heartache, and 30 bucks.
I absoulutly love the books i think the author is brilliant and i think everyone should at least read one of the book the movie dosn't stay true to the books too much but it's okay a little bit more childish for like the younger set
