God, I love these books as much as I love my own ass. I'm obsessive. The movies looks delicious. Sadly, I cannot see it until Saturday!

Although I was at first shocked when they casted Jim Carrey as Count Olaf, I think he will add that drop of satire that Lemony put into his books, and cannot be duplicated on screen. The cast looks realistic, too. Violet, Klaus and Sunny look exactly as I imagined.

I am a bit disappointed that they combined the first 3 books into one movie. There are so many little things that make the books memorable that they will miss, but you can't have everything, can you?

the books are supposed to be sad, but there not really, and they only get interesting after the 7th book so

I just got back from the theater. I'm so disappointed.

First of all, they put too must emphasis on Count Olaf. I think it's because he's a famous actor and they were trying to use his ability to liven up such a sad film.

The jokes were obvious, unlike the books with thier dark and subtle humor. The actors of Klaus and Violet were very bland, each and every line was as bland as a cracker.

I think it's impossible to capture the magic of the books on screen. It was a bad idea to make it into a movie. I recommend it to NO ONE who enjoyed the book.

I liked the credits the best.
That was cool.

I've seen Harry Potter.

No thanks.

The credits were so pretty.

I really liked it. Although it was very Hollywood, and many of the jokes were lame (c'mon, the captions at the bottom whenever the baby gooed? Those were obviously terrible), I loved it for the escape aspect. The abundance of eccentric characters was enjoyable, and the cinematography was just awesome.

The acting was a little bland, along with what seemed to be an incomplete storyline, but it was too pretty and adventurous to not be loveable.

(This is coming from somebody who has yet to read the books. I could just as well have been tipped if I had read them first).

I have high expectations.

When I first heard that there was going to be a movie based on the book series, I kind of hoped it would be like another Harry Potter. But I think Jim Carrey is going to ruin the movie. But I still want to see it.
17 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Monday 12/20/04 - 1:18:06 PM EST (GMT-5)
i really enjoyed it...but i haven't read the books yet.
17 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Monday 12/20/04 - 7:56:06 PM EST (GMT-5)
I liked it, and those sets were amazing!

But I am terribly confused by the ending. What did it all mean? So the parents and the aunt and uncle were investigating fires of some kind, and that eye thing...did they set their own house on fire?

And why?

17 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Monday 12/20/04 - 7:56:18 PM EST (GMT-5)
And what's with the spyglass?
17 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Monday 12/20/04 - 8:01:10 PM EST (GMT-5)
Or are we not supposed to know yet?
17 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Tuesday 12/21/04 - 5:03:07 PM EST (GMT-5)
Read the books and you'll find out.
17 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Tuesday 12/21/04 - 5:08:16 PM EST (GMT-5)
That's what I figured.

I read the first one.

17 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Tuesday 12/21/04 - 9:10:26 PM EST (GMT-5)
Argh, I'm going to see it tomorrow. Hopefully, it'll make sense to me, never read the books.
17 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Wednesday 12/22/04 - 10:11:27 PM EST (GMT-5)
CHeese, i think Olaf did, didn't he? TO collect the money? I don't know for sure, I've never read the books.
17 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Wednesday 12/22/04 - 10:38:50 PM EST (GMT-5)
Hmmmm...then why were the uncle and aunt and parents investigating fires?

17 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Thursday 12/23/04 - 6:27:28 PM EST (GMT-5)
I liked the movie. ESpecially Klaus. Liam Aiken...hottie!!! I love him! He's my new obsession. I just wish he would have taken off his shirt sometime...
