K, how many roles has Johnny Depp played? Everyone sees him as a Pirate now. He WAS Edward Scissor Hands, right? And he did immitate Charlier Chaplin. I mean, come on, the guy can play every role. I'm sure he was doubted when playing a pirate, but he pulled off one of the best performances of his life. Besides, this movie WILL NOT be the same as the original. Tim Burton is quoted to saying this movie was too sappy. And knowing Tim Burton he is going to make this movie dark, the way it was originally planned to be (they said it on the Wonka DVD commentary). This was a great movie, for sure. But I would love to see a different version of it and Burton can do it perfectly, especially with Depp as his main star for a 4th time.

This is my favorite movie of all time. It has every thing. Oompa-loompas , bad acid trips , TONS of chocolate. What do more do you need in a movie?

And speaking of Depp, did everyone miss Fear and Loating in Las Vagas? Should of won an oscar for that! You must be on more drugs than he was in that movie to not even mention this movie.

I heard way back that Nicolas Cage was up for the role of Wonka. I think that would have been great casting

FU*KING HORRIBLE! I saw the movie in college for the first time a few years ago and it absolutely ruined the book...I'll watch the remake only because Johnny Depp and I are destined to make cappuccino-colored offspring together

Awww, how could you not love this movie? I don't think the new one will be nearly as good as the poriginal, with or without Johnny Depp.

I love this movie. I agree with everybody that says the boat scene freaks them out, though. That part is pretty scary. I don't even understand the point of the scary images. Why would Willy Wonka want to scare them like that? Now, I was looking all over the Internet yesterday trying to find the meaning behind this movie. I thought I'd heard that it was really supposed to be about drugs. I can't find anything that explains that theory though. In fact, the only thing I found that had anything to do with it is a comment someone posted on a site about the song "The Candyman". Someone said 'This is often missed, but this song is really about drugs,' but they didn't explain it. Does anyone have a better understanding of this? Enlighten me!

Yeah, Ive seen the ads for it, its coming out this spring/summer i believe. Its looks alright, I hope its not just an exact copy of the original though

The original is a freakin' classic. The remake that's coming out this summer looks like a huge waste of time. And Johnny Depp looks like a woman in the previews
