The book was very good, but so was this movie. Gene Wilder did a fantastic job! So imaginative.

The book was better, but the movie almost lived up to it. Great movie, although I was kinda scared by Willy Wonka, especially in the scene with the boat.

"If you want to view paradise, simply look around and view it.."
"I want a feast, I want a bean feast, creambuns and doughnuts and fruitcake with no nuts, so good you could go nuts."
Yes..I do beleive this movie is classic and one of my childhood favorites, I'd be lost without it.

yes the book should be read, but i love this movie, just love it, it's been a favorite since i was little because of all the songs and the colors, when i got older i appreciated it for different reason like the play on words...
i also think it's funny that almost all the couples have the same name, 'grandpa jo, grandma josephine; henry and henrietta; grandpa george and grandma georgina'..

Awesome!!! I think the movie is just as good as the book in this situation, Gene Wilder is great but everything is great, they made it just as you imagine in the book. Definitely a classic - 9/10

I HATE the boat scene. It freaks me out every time I watch it.
And the oompa loopas scared me too when I was little. Their songs annoyed me too.
But other than that, it's a good movie.

I LOVE this movie, it's in the top 3 of my all time favorites. I love the fact that there is stuff for kids and adults. Like the scene when the woman's husband has been kidnapped and he calls the house and police answers the phone: police: "uh huh, yeah, ok" woman: what do they want, whatever they want they can have it I just want Harold back" policman: they want your case of Wonka bars woman: silent as she reflects policeman: Mrs. Smith its your husbands life or your case of Wonka Bars!" woman: how long will they give me to think it over?
That was funny. I also loved the last line of the movie, Charlie and Willy are in the Wonkavator and they are floating over the city and Wonka says: Oh and Charlie don't forget what happened to the boy who suddenly got everything he always wanted. Charlie: What happened? Wonka: He lived happily ever after. Oh such a great movie

This movie is like "The Wizard of Oz"...it's a little corny, but it is an all-time classic that you need to see with your kids. Kids LOVE this movie!

Ok, I forgot also that the scene where the large child gets sent up the pipe also freaked me out as a small child. And the evil guy who pretends to be Sluggworth. He was too creepy for me.
Why did I like this movie if I was so freaked out by it?
