Does anyone like Mark Ruffalo? He doesn't belong in the same category as Paul Rudd!
You’re right.
Ruffalo is fantastic.

(I have nothing against Paul Rudd, I only saw him in goofy parts. )

I got around to watching Moonlight last night and it was really good. I didn't realize Trevante Rhodes was in it, so when the Black part started, I was squealing internally because I loved him in Bird Box. I hope his career keeps on truckin'.

I guess I’m just pissed about Baz Lhurman (sp?) making Paris a goofy character in Romeo + Juliet (which I loved, otherwise)

Paris is central to the plot. In the play, Romeo kills him. They always cut that part in adaptations.

Sometimes Baz goes a little off the rails, but overall I love him (except Moulin Rouge, f*ck that trash).

the only thing of his ive ever liked was the get down

His version of The Great Gatsby is fire, plus WS's R+J holds a special place in my heart as it's one of my fave movies. I saw that in the theater when I was 13.

i have not liked any of Baz's films. his style just doesn't do it for me

His style is def not for everyone.

Strictly Ballroom is the nuts. I adore it and rewatch every year so.

I finally watched blackkklansman and although I enjoyed it overall I thought the ending was lacklustre

I think they could have made the ending more powerful of the racist cop hadn’t been arrested or something else had happened that made the ending a little less hokey.

Surely you didn't find the bit of reality at the end "hokey".

I highly enjoy the Red Curtain trilogy

Yeah that’s not the part of the ending I was talking about! It’s okay I know you loved the movie, you don’t have to take my criticism for the ending (which just serves to underline the problematic view of cops in the movie) personally, I liked the movie too.

I'm not taking it personally, that's kind of an odd thing to say.

i think the ending to blackkklansman is very didactic and in your face and i’m okay with that. spike lee isn’t exactly known for his sublety and this is probably my favorite film of his (do the right thing is probably his best but id rather rewatch this than that)

but yeah man. the whole racist cop thing getting arrested is a little “yeah see? cops arent THAT bad!!”
like i get that it happened and i get that it SHOULD be included but idk man it just felt a little.. off. I can’t put my finger on it, and i’m not saying this to discredit the movie. i definitely think out of the best picture movies nominees i’ve seen, this one is the best.

that being said i saw green book. i’m over these movies. stop making white savior movies. this would have been a thousand times more interesting had it been told from don shirley’s perspective. also his family and estate kinda hates this movie or rewriting history.

i also saw if beale street could talk which is directed by the same guy as moonlight. go see this movie. it was better than moonlight. the trailer is kind of misleading in a bad way. they left out a very crucial spoiler which i understand the intention but it made me not want to see this. and i am so glad i did. the acting is phenomenal and the visuals in this movie are very very strong.

the racist cop being arrested was made up for the film

I watched the Nellie Bly movie (Escaping the madhouse)
It was a good movie, but really deviated from the story in every sense except the poor treatment of the inmates, so that was a little annoying
But it's good as a movie separate to the article

Watched Hereditary last last and it was so scary/distressing that it has me thinking I don’t like horror movies anymore.

Toni Colette was amazing. So was the girl that played her daughter.

I was totally oblivious as to what the ending would be until about the last 20 minutes so I think the direction was great.

But holy sh*tballs. Did anyone else see it? It’s on Netflix now.

Yup, it was truly disturbing in parts. I didn't know they were going in that direction at the end, but they really went for it.

The more human elements of it were the most disturbing to me, tbh.
