I did like it, but really wanted Reylo to have a HEA. I suspected Ben Solo might die and am disappointed he did, I can't deny that, but knew this is how it would go down if it happened- he'd sacrifice himself for Rey. I knew force healing would be in TROS the moment I saw Baby Yoda try to heal The Mandalorian's arm a few weeks ago.
There was too much Poe and I'm not surprised the KOR didn't play a bigger part, though I love the concept. They are further explored in The Rise of Kylo Ren, a Marvel comic book that I have the first issue of, came out this past Wednesday.
My ideal ending would have been this- Reylo defeats Palpatine, but the effort renders them non-force sensitive. They live HEA in a quiet, happy life as non-force sensitive people and it ties up the saga in that way. We got a R+J-type ending instead.
I want to become a Sith Lord rn and roast JJ with force lightning. There are some clues out there that I'm not believing because I want to believe them, but because they actually make sense regarding a HEA ending that was filmed, but abandoned late in the film making process. Cowards, truly, if it's true.
I know most of the general audience will never know this, but Lucasfilm approved a lot of extra material that made this ending feel like a bait and switch, in a way.
In talking with my coworker this morning, he's so right in that this movie was made for the GA, in the safest way possible. I get that to a point, but don't heavily imply something else and rip that away from people. Just be quiet.

rey being a palpatine was the dumbest thing star wars has ever done besides negating everything anakin did to redeem himself by killing the emperor and bringing balance to the force. but nope hes just been f-ckin off for 40 years because the last movie killed our bad guy and disney doesnt have the balls to make kylo ren a meaningful villain when theyre too worried about rushing a redemption arc for ben solo.
movie felt like a sequel to a movie we didnt see. checked all the boxes of what made a good star wars movie but it forgot to check the boxes of what makes an interesting film.
also oh my god we get it you faced backlash for the last jedi can you stop beating us over the head with the fact that you’re distancing yourself away from it.
Kylo Ren wasn't supposed to be a meaningful villain in the first place, which is why his death is nonsensical. Look at his face after he kills Han; Adam Driver doesn't do this sh*t by accident.
I much preferred Rey Nobody to Rey Palpatine as that's such a powerful message.
Also, now every last Skywalker is dead and the prodigal son they sacrificed themselves to save... also dead. Also, Rey's alone... again. A found family isn't the same as finding your soulmate.

What was that medal Chewbacca got at the end? A friend of mine said that at the end of the first Star Wars movie (A New Hope), when they were passing out medals, Chewbacca didn't get one. So that's what it was.
I really like hearing all the voices of the dead Jedi. It was fun hearing Yoda there. But that last voice, was that supposed to be Darth Vader (Anakin)?
Palpatine's survival is not explicitly explained, but cloning is mentioned for a split second & that's a plotline used for him in the video games previously.
Kylo Ren's ship explodes, yet he walks away from it without a scratch?
They stopped the attack on that navigation tower without destroying it. Couldn't they just re-activate that navigation tower?
When wondering which Star Destroyer is now controlling navigation, Finn says "That one", when asked why that one, he responds "I have a feeling". Huh? Out of a thousand Star Destroyers, you have a feeling it's that one? That's so weak. Unless they are alluding to Finn somehow using the force. Which doesn't make sense, since there was no clue that he was in tune with the force at any time in the past.
I loved seeing the old gang again (Han, Leia, Luke). I kind of choked up a little when I saw them. I'm not sure why. Maybe because Carrie Fisher is no longer with us. Maybe because this wraps up about 45 years of seeing Star Wars. I was just a teenager when I saw the first Star Wars movie. The Han Solo and Ben scene really made me choke up. It was a father kindly forgiving his son. And a son who gets turned around and starts a new direction in life. It was touching.
