Also, my friends left the theater pretty early on in the credits, and I lingered a little bit (compromise - I usually stay till the bitter end of credits even if there's no after-scene). Then I cried some more, because there was a group of about six girls who looked 10-12 years old, and they were SO HAPPY. Already talking Halloween costumes and stuff.

I do see some ways that it could have been more feminist, but overall, I was SUPER pleased with the very limited amount of overt male gazey stuff. The last DC movie I saw was Suicide Squad, which was drating AWFUL for that (I know it works with Harley's character but that doesn't mean I'm not annoyed by it).
One of my dude friends also named that as a big takeaway (though he didn't know what to call it), so I know it wasn't just me projecting what I wanted on the movie.

^^Meaning I was pleased by how little there was (compared to most superhero movies, anyway), not that I *liked* what there was.

I had never seen Chris Pine in anything and now I love him, so we'll have to disagree on that one.

I love how they designed the WW costume for this, also. Gal's boobs aren't hanging out, etc., she just looks badass. All of her stunts are f*cking AWESOME.

I also came so close to crying during this; I barely held it together.

I'm fine with Chris Pine usually (he's Kirk in the new Star Trek movies and I think that's the extent of my experience with him). I don't think it was so much him as the writing in that scene.

Also very impressed with the costumes. Dude and I were just talking about how they gave a little nod to the myth of Amazon women cutting off one breast to facilitate archery (which is probably 100% mythical), via the asymmetrical tops (which, at least in the case of WW's early one, definitely flattened out one side of her chest).

Speaking of nods -

Was the Chief a total homage to Apache Chief from Justice League, or was it just me? I feel like that HAD to be on purpose, and I sort of had a moment in the theater when they first showed him, but it definitely wasn't overt. Does sort of seem like their way of writing him in as a less-racist version of himself, though.

I remember what the original Wonder Woman stuff looked like, with that first girl? Can't remember her name. Before the scrapped it and then brought in Gal. The costuming for this one was SO much better.

2011 failed tv pilot

Well, I think that TV pilot was supposed to be much more of a throwback to the Lynda Carter WW than this, a serious stand-alone film.

Not saying it was a GOOD idea, but the costuming is purposely campy.

I had totally forgotten about that tv show, lol.

I finally watched this
found the beginning to be incredibly boring

everything after they left amazon was great

then they got to the end and I was super excited that she found out aries wasn’t a thing because I thought that whole thing was stupid and I was hoping the movie would come to that same conclusion.... but then aries happened and I got bored by the movie again and stopped paying attention

reading through this thread, I can see now that I made one huge mistake
sorry to have misspelled ares

and I can see why some people might find the beginning to be good because of what it depicts
I just generally find origin stories to be dull
and I feel like she was on amazon for too long (I keep calling it amazon because I have no idea how to spell the actual name)

plus they used the bullsh-t “if you leave you can never return” line
which has never ever been true anytime it’s been said

I watched this on my flight from Philly to London. It was OK, but there was definitely room for improvement.

Is the topic still alive? The film was 2 years ago.
