Yeah, I'm expecting a Tarantino movie, personally.

It's just…those people have living family members who remember the murders well. Some care needs to be taken with how the murders are shown, and I'm just 50/50 (or worse) whether I think he'll do that, vs. going full-on, no holds barred Tarantino gore.

There's sticking with your style, and there's realizing when you need to moderate that in order to not come off like a massive dick.

There is hope, since the main character is Sharon Tate’s neighbor that we might not see inside the house during the massacre.

I know you probably will, but really: avoid anything about it besides the trailer.

dragged across concrete is the most alt-right movie ever and there's something unintentionally hilarious about mel gibson and vince vaughan being reprimanded for just not being damn Politically Correct enough when they arrest minorities

but it's also a really well put together action thriller with a real nice slow burn tension and heightening stakes

This was the first horror movie I've seen in a decade (?) and I psyched myself out too much to enjoy it. I'd love to watch it again not in a theater.
3 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Tuesday 3/26/19 - 11:40:43 PM EST (GMT-5)
the theater ruined it for me as well

I still really enjoyed the film, but the atmosphere was ruined by people laughing and talking constantly throughout

like some parts were definitely super funny, but others weren’t meant to be and I hate when people have weird reactions to things

I try to be forgiving of laughter in horror movies especially, because people have weird reactions to things that are scary/uncomfortable. But the talkers can f*ck all the way off.

Anyway, I enjoyed it/thought it was better than Get Out (which was great). There's so much that I want to see again after thinking about it a few days.

I couldn’t sleep much last night because I was just thinking about the movie

get out had a more focused narrative, but us is definitely more interesting

I've seen that criticism of Us in a few places, and I don't agree. I didn't think it was unfocused (or "muddled" as one reviewer put it). And I know you (and most others) are saying that from a POV of really enjoying it overall. I just...idk, I didn't get that from it.

i also saw if beale street could talk which is directed by the same guy as moonlight. go see this movie. it was better than moonlight. the trailer is kind of misleading in a bad way. they left out a very crucial spoiler which i understand the intention but it made me not want to see this. and i am so glad i did. the acting is phenomenal and the visuals in this movie are very very strong.

this movie is on hulu for anyone interested

Us

god. jordan peele is on track to be my favorite person in hollywood. the key n peele show is always a classic, and get out was amazing but this? holy sh-t dude. this was something beyond that.

this was fairly straightforward, compared to his other film, and my god. i need to see it again. as soon as i can.

this movie is not scary. at least in the traditional sense. if you want a movie that will keep you up at night, keep looking. but if you want a movie that will make you ponder your own existence, make you feel slightly paranoid, and then thoroughly entertain you, this movie is it. this is a very rare breed of film. one that is no doubt an instant classic and will one hundred percent have people talking about it and the ending for a long long time.

we didnt deserve this movie, but damn we needed it

Went to see Ruben Brandt Collector. Animation movie based on some masterpiece paintings. It’s visually overwhelming, the story is also interesting: a psychiatrist is having horrible hallucinations where he is attacked by characters in paintings. The only cure is to steal the originals, so he hires colorful characters to help him.

Here is the preview, if you’re interested.

Shazam is the best DCU movie

(which maybe says more about the DCU than anything else, but Shazam is actually a decent film)

One of my oldest friends is in Chicago right now at the Star Wars convention and saw the unveiling of that as it happened.

It's Episode IX (last of the sequel trilogy) so I assume the Skywalker is Kylo Ren.

Or I guess maybe Rey, though didn't they make a point of saying she wasn't? I've only seen each of the prequels once.
