It's about time. I can't think of many bad performances of his. And Clint is a solid Oscar-friendly director.

On the other end, I can't think of any outstanding performances since Gilbert Grape.

Oh god I hated the Aviator so bad. Fell asleep in the movie theater and woke up pissed since there were loud sound effects that woke me from my nap.

You're lame.

And to answer the question in the first post, apparently f*cking not.

i actually liked Leo in this, but maybe because everything else was so bad. overly long, very melodramatic, sh-tty makeup, and just plain boring.

Good thing. He doesn't deserve one.

I didn't think it was a bad movie, just not a great one.
The cast was acting great but I believe Eastwood could have made more of that story.

I actually don't think Eastwood is that great of a director.

He made a mess of Mystic River, imo.

Jealousy is a rough emotion.

i disagree about Mystic River, but he's a very uneven director. he's made several great films, but he's also made several pieces of crap. it's a gamble.

WHy would I be jealous of somebody in a different profession than I? I dont want to be an actor.

But thanks for the bullsh*t!

Have you read the book?

I thought it was a horrible adaptation.

as an adaptation it might have been bad, but i try to judge films solely on the film, not the original idea or media.

I just couldn't do that and it ruined it for me because the book was so much better at telling that story.

I agree. Watching the featurette, it seems Eastwood didn't want to commit to a very precise interpretation of what Hoover was in his personal life, while the script itself clearly went into one direction.

OK, I finally watched this and I thought Leo did a great job portraying J. Edgar Hoover. BUT I thought the screenplay could have been a little more structured. I think that's the word I'm looking for. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it. I just think J. Edgar Hoover's a pretty damn hard subject to make a film about.

Leo was great, though. He's got his critics (losers), but I always forget I'm watching Leonardo DiCaprio when I'm watching a film like this. He embodies the character/historical figure.
