I saw this for the first time yesterday, and as one of my friends said it would make a great computer game (hell, it even looks like one) but i don't really like the style of Anime (mostly CG). I did enjoy this film, but with all thats going on I expected the ending to be spectacular or tragic...and it doesn't quite achive either. It's very mixed about what story it's trying to tell. And at the end they all fall a little flat. I was never bored, as i said i did enjoy this film, but i won't call it great.

I think this film is great. First off, it is a great tribute to the origional metropolis, and puts a new spin on it. It's brilliant. Second, the animation/art is done in the style of a game called Final Fantasy Tactics, which is one of the best ever. Third, the sound track makes me feel all kindsa giddy. If there was a TV show called brilliant sound track theater, this would be the first episode.

Impressive anime, I liked it, but I felt the story could have gone a little deeper than it did.

final fantasy tactics?no wonder i was reminded of FF7 throughout the whole movie.anyay i thought this movie was great.my third favorite anime movie so far.the animation was wonderful, really spectacular.and for a PG13 movie it had some really great action.dont go see this expecting the usual anime gore though, where a guy gets shot once and a river of blood flows.but thats not to say its a totally wholesome movie.i really liked the story,i didnt really care that it didnt go in deeper.i thought the end was great, and what was really wierd is after Luke rpessed the button,it reminded me of the end of Dr Strangelove.anyway,i definately recoemdn this movie, its great

Pics aren't "chopped". They're not even touched. You enter the link and that's what's posted. The only think added is the little "YouThink.com" at the bottom.

Blank: if the pic came from your computer, it's normally larger than ones that don't for some reason. Just something I noticed.

Well, Tom, since I'm the movie mod, I can tell you for a FACT that I did not chop it. I can't imagine anyone else going behind me and doing it either. So, please don't be accusatory. There was a glitch somewhere. It's fixed now.

A wonderful film. Stunning visuals, but the story could have been a little deeper.

I thought it was amazing. I wasn't expecting that particular animation style, all round-eyed like Popeye, but the way everything came together was great. And the soundtrack is incredible.

The animation style was like that because it was based on a comic book by Osamu Tezuka, a manga artist from the 30's/40s and onwards, and that was his style, they decided to preserve it for this movie.

A good choice for the style as well, IMO. If you're going to do a tribute to the movie that started it all for sci-fi film, you should also pay tribute to the guy who started it all for manga/anime.

the backgrounds are usually what i focus upon when analyzing the visials in animated features. this one had terriffically drawn scenes. i thought they did pretty well in combining CG graphics with 2d design. unlike the first couple episodes of witch hunter robin, the rendering of the computer graphics was smooth and went well with the rest of the background.

as for the story, i thought it was slightly above average. not outstanding, but not lacking interesting points either.

The backstory behind this film is interesting. Osamu NEVER saw Fritz Lang's film, except for one still: The creation of the female robot. His story does have similarities with Lang's. It turns out it's a good companion to Lang's Metropolis.
