Honorable mention to The Deer Hunter, but that movie is brutal.

the deer hunter is so good
it took me a while to come around to it
all i wanted was the vietnam sh*t and i was so impatient with the wedding stuff but it's such a great movie about how war affects real communities back home and all that domestic sh*t is so essential and what it's about

My mom did a long-term thing a few years back where she watched all the Best Picture winners in chronological order. She made me come watch The Deer Hunter with her, even though we had both seen it before. It's so good, but "enjoyed" isn't necessarily the word I'd use.
(She was really irritated about having to watch Rocky, lol.)

rocky is a surprisingly great worthwhile movie imo!
i love so much that it's not a movie about winning, it's just a movie about competing, and that's enough
it's so well acted, so well staged, so well placed. everything works and it's such a canny underdog hero tale that doesn't overreach itself and is so rich in detail it's beguiling

I actually agree about Rocky, and she enjoyed it far more than she expected to. I don't think she'd ever seen it before.

really, the kings speech was so clunky and bad and was just ugly from a visual perspective
also the sting felt so clinical and cold to me and i don't know why people like it so much

I haven’t seen as many oscar movies as I would like
I do want to watch them all at some point, but who has the time?
I quite enjoyed king’s speech
especially firth’s performance and the relationship between the king and logue
I also listed return of the king even though I agree with skyfish that of those movies, it probably least deserved the win
but out of the oscar movies I’ve seen it’s one of my favorites

It's tough to narrow it down to five but here goes:
The Godfather
Schindlers list
Forrest Gump
Patton
No country for old men
Leaving out Rainman, Braveheart, Gladiator, Godfather 2, the Sting, Kramer vs Kramer, Silence of the lambs among others that should arguably be in the list.
