It was beautiful, bleak, and violent. I never once looked at my watch; that's how I know I saw a good movie. The CGI in this movie is really well done. The mauling scene seemed so realistic, animal behavior-wise, and the CGI was really good there, too, imo. The natural light only aspect made the whole thing seem more legit, too. Leonardo is magnificent as a "silent-type" Hugh Glass. Some catty bitches were saying he would overact and mess up the experience, think again. He's so great in this. Holy sh*t, it's violent and makes you really think about life for fur trappers and Native Americans in the 1800s. Two thumbs up. |

To me, the pacing makes sense. If you were injured and dragging across the wilderness, time wouldn't exactly go fast. |
