A car crash, an injured and helpless author, a psycotic and obsessed fan, a sledgehammer , a bed and a pair of feet(ouch!)

the movie was a huge disappoitnment and a total insult to a wonderful book.James Caan was totally wrong for the role, weh ni read the book i never imagined him that old.plus they left out the best parts, when the two cops come to her house and when she chops off his leg and burns it.even the ending was bad.i think Kathy Bates was too young at the time to play this role,an older her could have done a lot better.i still cant belive she even got nominated much less won the Best Actress oscas for this.if you want to see this movie, dont, read the book.and if youve read the book, stay away from this movie

Excellent Bates performance and one of the best King adaptations ever.

i think if you just emply a decent screenwriter and some good actors it's not hard to have one of the best King adaptations. My fave is of course Carrie. Which I think is also one of my fave films. Not is a Top Five kind of way, but I really like it a lot.

I would agree with that Zaxone, if it weren't for travesties such as Pet Sematary, Thinner, Firestarter and several others. Still, there have been some great ones such as Misery, The Green Mile, The Dead Zone, Stand By Me and, my personal fave, The Shawshank Redemption.

Oh, and Carrie, too.
19 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Sunday 9/8/02 - 5:54:22 PM EST (GMT-5)
oh, i think i expressed myself wrong, as i meant that those you mentioned first were sadly lacking in good actors and screenwriters. Hence them being travesties. I never remember to think of stand by me and shawshank as Stephen King. Prolly because they weren't in the 'big glossy metallic embossed title book cover' genre. How the hell could I forget Dead Zone tho? Martin Sheen as the creepiest Prez ever. Talking of Arse King movies tho -- I hated HATED Hearts in Atlantis.

As far as Stephen King adaptations go, this one wasn't too bad. Kathy Bates is perfect in so many of his movies ... the book is always better though, of course. Still I'd give this a 7.5/10

I saw parts of this on television. I got REALLY freaked out when he got his ankles smashed with the sledgehammer...sometimes my ankles start to hurt when I hear the word "misery."

It was a very sad movie. I wonder if they ever came out with a sequel involving the other obsessed fan that he met @ the end of the movie.

the smashing of ankles part always makes me squeal. but still not as scary as the book.
