This movie is excellent! A modern-day Romeo and Juliet. So sad, though. I like the music. While I don't like what the Jets and the Sharks were singing about, the song was catchy and the dancing is terrific! I wish I could dance like that.

Jeez. I spelled his name the girlie way. It's Tony! Somehow, I knew I'd do that, too.

I love this movie sooo much. I don't even think I'd mind it if they did a remake of it. Tony was beautiful, and the way he sang Maria...sigh..

I absolutely love this movie. Though I must admit, the guy who played Tony definately could've done it better. My favorite song is the Jet song

I think the movie has AMAZING dancing, but the singing and acting(save Natalie Wood, her acting was amazing) could have used GREAT amounts of improvement. I think I'm just biased because the show I was in had really, really, really amazing singers. But, I'll admit it, I SOBBED at the end of the movie. Oi! | Did you know Natalie Wood didn't even do her own singing? The voice they used was an actress' from Sound of Music. One of the nuns, I think.

^^Yes, that came out years later. It was Marnie Nixon who sang her songs. She did the same for Audry Hepburn in My Fair Lady. I can't believe I remembered Marnie Nixon's name, when I'm not sure of my own most of the time!

IMDB had someone else listed.

Rita Moreno (Anita) was on The Talk recently. I can't believe she's turning 80 this year! She looks fabulous! She's staring in a sitcom now with Fran Drecsher and playing her mother. I was at a friend's graduation several years ago and she gave the commencement address. It's so cool that I was in the same room with Rita Moreno!

My mom went with a couple of her friends when this was first released. Her best friend was saying she would probably cry. Movies like that usually did. The other friend was like "Oh, for crying out loud. It's just a movie. What's there to cry over?" Well, guess who ended up LITERALLY crying out loud? She was bawling! A theatre usher even came and asked if she was OK. Then he went and got her a bunch of tissues.
